@SDIVER2006 's storm thread is the reason for this thread. I've been here just a little over a year. Since I've been here there have been several bad storms in the area. Luckily, they have been all around us and never right here. We will get some wind and a lot of rain with some lightning and thunder but, that's it. When these storms come through, there will be places 15-20 miles away that look like a war zone. Trees down, roofs blown off, debris everywhere, power out. Not here.
I've talked to some locals and they say it's always been that way, our little area is always spared. I find it very strange but I just hope it continues. Oh, when it does decide to rain, it rains! Monday afternoon, it got cloudy and the wind picked up and it started raining. It rained 2 inches in just a few minutes. Then, it stopped and the sun came back out and the birds started singing.
I'm afraid our luck will have to change one day. We've never lost power and people a half mile away were without power for three days. I hope that when we do lose power it not be in the summer. An apartment with 3 windows and two doors will get hot in a hurry in the Texas heat.
