Do they make an extra long strain screw? This will be used in a S&W mod 64. I know I can use a 8-32 fillister screw, but would like one that is made to be a strain screw.
Not sure if that helps but I have used a gutted used primer placed on the end of the strain screw to add a little tension.
I am assuming that it is not an issue that can be solved with an extra heavy spring?
That is what I am using right now. Trying to get away from that. I put in a Wolf type two main spring and my original strain screw just is not long enough. The empty primer is working, but I would rather have just a screw.
Hi, here is one on ebay and his store has the longer versions.

I will give that a try. I do not think I can get enough off though. I would at least need a full turn plus some.Another option that I have used is to lightly file the underside of the screw head so it screw in a bit more. Easily done with a drill or drill press and a flat file.
I contacted Wolff about some K frame MSs I got that were too light. Occasionally even a Great company has problems. They made it right.
Can you shim it with a ball bearing and then reinstall the stock screw with red Locktite?I found the longer one on his site. Thank you. Now I just have to convince myself that $9 bucks for a screw!
