So I was having some ejection issues and decided to install a kidd ejector. Noticed the entire scope mount was loose and yep, screws are stripped. Not sure if it got banged on something or what. Anybody fixed one of these before? Been reading about bigger screws and a tap kit from Brownells. Is that the best bet?

Sounds like tapping it for larger screws is probably your best bet.

So you noticed your scope mount was loose and it was causing ejection problems? Seems odd.

Anyhow, never rethreaded scope screw holes but I am sure it wouldnt be hard. Just drill with the correct new size bit, tap and screw the base down. Might need to use a endmill to open the screw head holes on the rail, but should be easy work.

I read that as in the midst of diagnosing his extraction problems and installing Kidd extractor (they don't make an ejector), he determined that his scope mount was loose and the screw holes were stripped. The two issues weren't related other than the timing of discovery.

Correct on both. It was an extractor.

Well if the screws protruded into the receiver cavity just a lil......

Yeah on a 10/22 scope rail screws can cause all kinds of problems as the holes go thru the receiver, allowing the screws to drag on the bolt. This can cause a wild goose chase diagnosing issues if one were unaware of it.

Got her all apart ready for a rethread and noticed this on the end of my Kidd barrel. It doesn't scrape off. Looks like it wasn't machined all the way.

What does the bolt face look like?

Must be a Friday afternoon gun. Not cool.

Looks like someone used it to bust concrete......
