Stupid 10/22...

Well, I wen into the long winded post and it was a novel....

Basically traded my 10/22 stainless away. Missed it. Bought another. It won't feed bulk like my last one and with scope and on bags is printing like a shotgun.... Grrr...

I would throw some cci standard and maybe one other decent ammo and if it keeps that up I would look hard at the scope. At least eliminate those two and then move to gun.

Clean the bore and try the iron sights like Amps said might be the scope...

Check all the 10/22 screws (action and v-block) and scope mount screws ... torque to spec.

This is a secret tool that may screw us later. just got a fat wrench. I was surprised at how much tighter it made every fastener compared to expectation... First time I’ve gone “to spec”..

10/22 action screws have pretty good tolerances. From 15-25 inch pounds. Ruger 10/22’s have a larger than match chamber to accommodate for all ammo. If you’re getting a shotgun pattern, you either have a bad batch of ammo, defective crown, or a bad barrel. If it functions fine, it is from the breach out to the crown.
