    wanting a rim fire, I guess 22lr.

Wanting to stay under $300, not sure if I want a semi or a bolt but I want something that will be very accurate. Will end up with a can on it

Hard to beat that 15/22 package with the cheap red dot. ;)

I have been toseveral matches in the last couple years, semi-autos are the ones that have malfuntions, feeding issues and magazine problems. CZ's are most common and shoot great. Savages are also popular and lower priced.

CZ is out with a $300 budget. Savage Mark II FV-SR is the other commonly shot 22lr. This model is threaded. 10/22s will get accurate if you custom build one from scratch but that will be more than $300. Some like the Ruger American line.

Search the monthly "benchrest Challenges" to see what others are shooting. Mostly FV-SR, CZ, and then some big money guns.

Hike on over to www.rimfirecentral.com to feed your addiction. I usually hang out in the CZ section, but wander around a lot. Lots of good info there.

The one and only reason I bought a 10/22. Infinite BS made for it. Mine is currently wearing an ATI folding tacticool stock and a bipod.

I'm partial to my Marlin Model 60. Sentimental as much as anything I guess. The only thing I would change is the stock. I get the itch from time to time to try my hand at checkering. Mrs. is good with the carving knives and chisels, so she can help with technique.

I've been looking hard at a Savage bolt gun in the sub 300 range to round out my cheap .22 rifle collection.

I've had several Marlins that have been tack drivers. Can't vouch for current production however.

If you need precision then you are either going to spend more than $300 on the rifle or on the upgrades you’ll do later. And is there a sub $300 rimfire with a threaded barrel?

    Your requirements are contradictory.

None of that applies to the FVSR. Its threaded and accurate right out the box with a great trigger. And I've seen then under $250 almost everywhere

Like mentioned before the fvsr will not disappoint and be your best bet for staying with in budget and hitting all your requirements.

Oh yeah. Buy a cheap peace of s...t Ruger 10/22. Then add a minimum of $65 for a trigger that’s half, not whole decent. Then change the stock out, then the barrel. Keep the bolt.

Get a savage FVSR. I have the b22 version. Will shoot 5 shot groups that are smaller than a dime at 50yds with cci standard velocity. Will shot shotgun shells at 100yds all day long. Very accurate little rifle. Love mine!

I bought a Marlin Model 60 from a CFF member for $100, put Williams Fire Sights on it and love it. I can keep it on an 8.5 x 11 target at 135 yards shooting off sand bags. That makes me happy. :)
