Pretend you popped the hood, and you are looking at the passenger side area under the windshield. The trim that runs under the wipers has been removed.
What you are seeing is the end of a drainage tube that runs from the front corner of the sunroof, down the A pillar to here. There is a hole in the frame where the water exits through the wheel well to the ground. There is also one on the driver side too, but I couldn’t get a good picture because it is under the wiper motor.
There is a disc in the center that is designed to make a stream of water “spray” instead of being a steady stream. It is so close to the flow that it gets clogged with debris. I discovered this by having my sunroof “leak” down the A pillar on the inside of the vehicle because it could no longer drain down the tube.
According to YouTube University, the solution is to break off the center disc, and once I did that some backlog of water immediately flowed out. I was warned not to remove the entire fitting as that could cause the tubing to pull off the nipple and hang loose in the firewall.
Now you get to learn from my failure! If you have a sunroof, you might want to investigate whether it has drain holes, and if so flush them occasionally.

Should have 4 drain tubes (2 heading rearward). The discs are to discourage critters from nesting and clogging the holes.

My mil car had that leak. A Ford escape. I used a piece of weedeater spring to clear it our for top to bottom. Didn't have a disk thong like that

If so, I have no way to access them. The glass retracts back into the roof but not all the way so that I can see what the rear end of the railing looks like.

So it does not go forward and lift up the back of the sunroof?
If it does you should be able to get to the back drain holes.

It does lift up after it moves forward, but I can’t see the back of the “pan” when the roof is closed. Do I have to just try to find the hole by feel?

Park the car nose high, open the sunroof and pour a small cup of water carefully on each side. Watch under the car for the water to drain to locate the drain outlet.

Just here to say I feel your pain. Did this exact thing about a year ago in my wife’s Nissan Rogue. Broke off the tab so the water could flow freely and haven’t had any issues since. Curious to learn about the rear tubes as I didn’t do anything with those, but might after I see more :)

I’ve got a 2001 Toyota Highlander with leaking issues. The odd thing about, if it’s parked on level ground, it doesn’t leak. Only leaks when it’s parked on a incline in either direction. I’ve tried using compressed air to clean out the drain tubes. Sounds like I need to look for the the end of the drain tubes to check there.

This is a Rogue that I just did this to, so I’m glad to hear you’ve had no more issues! I just don’t understand why they didn’t run extra tubing on down to the wheel well…but I’m not an engineer.

Funny, talking to my mother today she mentioned this very thing on her Nissan Murano
