OK My buddy has been talking my ear off about a Thompson Center Encore. I like what I am hearing but I wanted to get some subjective opinions before I bit on one since my buddy is a total T/C fanboy and they can do no wrong in his eyes. Anybody got one? How are they? I like the idea of just changing barrels to change calibers...

My dad has one that has been promised to me. I think they're pretty cool, but from what i remember...the cost of barrels is pretty high. In some cases almost enough for another gun. I like em, but id rather collect more guns then just barrels.

Barrels for most calibers are around 280 or so.

I had a TC 50 cal BP. Cons, the hydro dip on the stock started peeling in about 6 months. The 209 primer extractor was a PITA to take out every time to access the breech plug. That’s about it and they offered and upgraded extractor that twisted out of the way.

It was hands down my favorite deer rifle and I hunted with it instead of centerfire I’m many occasions. I harvested more deer with it than anything else I own.

It was dead accurate out to about 200 yards which is awesome for BP.

Never got around to getting a different barrel for it and I’m still kicking myself for trading it.

The only reason I didn’t get any different barrels was because I’d have to buy a new forend because there’s a size difference for BP barrels.
