I wanted a super small low power magnified optic for a use case where the magnified prism sights don't work (not enough eye relief based on where it has to be mounted on the rifle I'm setting up).

I found the T-Eagle SR 2x28RG, which is obviously a Top Kwality chinesium optic, but at only 5" long with lots of eye relief and enough body out the back to get the eyepiece where it needs to be, and a simple mil dot reticle I thought it would be perfect. 2x is 'good enough' for what I'm trying to do. 30mm body so I can use any of the existing rings I have to get it mounted very low to the bore axis. It's range toy and not a duty weapon, it's a good spot to expernment.

Got it from Amazon yesterday... and it's already boxed up to be returned.

All of the specs were right as far as size and whatnot, but what isn't correct is the 2x part. Not even close. Testing it beside a name brand LPVO set at 2x and another off-brand LPVO set at 2x I'm guessing the SR2 is at best... 1.2? It's so unmagnified that I can read my white board across the room through it just fine, other than some distortion the letters are the same size with or without the optic. It's also a blurry and kinda dark image.

I could almost live with the image quality and brightness... if it was magnified. Sighting out across the pond with this vs. a PA 1x prism... the prism hands down wins even without magnification. The clear 1x image with a clean reticle is much easier to get on a small target vs. a dark and blurry 1.2x image. It's better than the iron sights, but not by much and not enough to justify it's existence.

I didn't bother putting the battery in to test the illumination, it wasn't worth it. Such poor light transmission for a 30mm body I can't imagine trying to use it in 'dim' conditions.

Learn from my pain, avoid this guy even if it looks like the right answer on paper.

Back to either trying to convince myself the 1x prism is the right answer and/or fiddling with QD magnifiers and mounts which just makes the whole setup so clunky. Ick.

Dude,

You just killed a whole line of Uyghurs slave labor. When the foreman at the labor camp realizes your returned this optic, god help them.

you are a ---hole.

John ;)
