I want to do a .308 build next. For some reason, I really like this "Steam Punk" look. Talk me out of it. It's a limited edition Aero Precision. All my builds are AP. I find the quality for price outstanding.

To me it looks like slightly rusted steel or maybe tarnished copper...not sure which. Either way, if you like it I say go for it. This is a hobby for a reason and your hobby should bring you pleasure and relaxation.
Example...I like oddball calibers, not wildcats, just odd. I find that they really fill a void and are fun to play with, they do things that standard rounds can't but honestly they don't blow anyone's socks down. They're just different and I like them.
 
If it was MLOK it would be better. Keymod will be dying soon. Mark my words. I like the tarnished copper look of it. Much nicer than that battleworn crap...

I've sat here thinking for the past 30min of reasons NOT to build this and the only 1 I can think of is if you're using your mortgage money to do so.

Not my style, but definitely a cool finish!
 
If that's what you're into go for it. I have no experience with AP but if you have a history with them and know their quality I think it's a great idea.
 
Reasons not to do the build?

That is something different. No one else will have anything like it, so you will stand out from the crowd.
The copper washed look is probably excellent camo
Aero Precision makes excellent lowers
You want/need it

You are talking to a known group of enablers, so you know we ain't gonna try to talk you out of it. Go for it, I think it will be cool.

Please do. I'd love to see if with some Patriot brown furniture, although I think black will be great.
 
I definitely won't talk you out of the build but have you thought about a different caliber?
 
Also, I wouldn't worry about it being Keymod. Even if Keymod does die, it's going to be a while, and you'd have plenty of time to configure it how you wanted with any and all accessories.
 
Yeah you are probably only going to find enablers on here. Always dug the steam punk look myself.

There's a new car show I can't remember the name of (Hauk Designs I think) where they took a brand new Camaro, made it 4wd and then steam punked the hell out of it. Even used some chemical bath to make it look like aged copper. I was throwing money at the screen.

Dang it, why did I click the link?!?! You can get it in Keymod or M-LOK too!!! I'm putting a bolt gun together and got an AR almost 3/4 built in a titanium color. I like to sleep in the house so this would be hard to explain after I just fussed about the grocery store bill. I love the colors on this and really want to build a 6.5CM gasser and this would be a great base! Love Aero too!
