I'm looking for a decent backpacking gun and decided a 4" 44 mag would be a good choice. In my searching I found a Taurus 444 Ultralight and while I typically do not like Taurus I'm intrigued by this one. Does anyone here have any experience with these? Will they hold up to some heavy, fairly hot loads? It only weighs 28oz so I doubt it will see a lot of range time but I still want to be able to shoot it.
My understanding is that it's built like a Raging Bull but from lighter materials and the Raging Bulls seem to get good reviews and have a following.

I had one a few years ago and put around 1k rounds through it. 90% of that was full power hand loads.

LOT of fun to shoot. Lot of recoil, but not painful to me.

I have put about 100 rounds through mine . Some were very hot loads .
Some claim it is hard on the hand but i am used to shooting big bore
handguns. Hunted with the 45/70 in a 14in TC many times.

I don't shoot anything that big but do have a 30-30 TC that I shoot and other big bore revolvers. I really just want to make sure the gun will hold up.
