Israel Weapon Industries is launching its newest member of the Tavor bullpup rifle family – Tavor 7 chambered in 7.62x51mm.

The Tavor 7 is a fully ambidextrous platform on which the ejection side and the charging handle can be switched quickly and easily from side to side by the user. The ambidextrous features include: safety lever, magazine release, and bolt catch similar to the X95, chambered in 5.56mm, according to an Oct. 30 IWI press release.

“We are pleased to expand the Tavor family – the world’s most popular battle-proven bullpup rifles – with the new addition of a 7.62x51mm caliber weapon, based on requests from our customers,” according to Shlomi Sabag, IWI’s CEO

My wallet just just up and ran away. I've been wanting a bullpup for a while now. I may end up skipping on getting a 5.56 and waiting for this to release.

But it's probably far better balanced.

I think a typical Tavor is heavier than an M4.

I have shot my buddies in 5.56. Honestly wasnt impressed with it esp the trigger. I understand they improved with the X95. I guess I just dont get the fascination with bullpups.

A few after market trigger company's make drop ins for the tavor and x95 specifically because there was such a demand for a better trigger.

Cool factor has a lot to do with it, sure you can make the argument that the shortened OAL isn't worth the cost when short barrel AR does the same job for less money when you consider that the lost velocity due to the shorter barrel is negligible in most cases.
