Teaching my 5 year old positional shooting

You need to keep that Razor for him! Good on you for teaching him so early. I’ll be watching him on the TV shooting matches one day.

Not to be a wise guy but he needs to wear safety glasses. He looks like he is having a great time with you.

I've been working with Cub Scouts all week as rangemaster for BB guns. BB guns are a huge hit with Scouts, and whenever my wife is the director she makes sure range time is a HUGE part of the schedule.

Be guns, archery, and sling shot all morning until lunch, all week.

Let me tell you, it's an exhausting job trying to maintain safety and control, not to mention actually TRAIN the little buggers productively. But they learn.

Their mandatory training is done (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, standing, kneeling/sitting, prone) and Thursday/Friday are strictly "shoot for fun".

All I've got to say is "make sure it's fun for your son". Shooting should always be a fun activity!

He’s always having fun at the range. We only shoot 30 or so rounds so he doesn’t get bored. He also enjoys cleaning his rifle when we get home.

Buddy of mine put my son (13) behind his the other day at the range and had him ringing steel at 255 in 4 shots.
My son's little pecker it still standing tall. He thought it was about the finest damn thing ever. Regularly reminds me that would be a really cool rifle to have.

That is great. I have a newborn niece that I am looking forward to training. I trained her Mom as well. I Love teaching kids to shoot.

Gotta work on that follow-through... stay on the rifle and don't look back at your spotter! ;)

In all seriousness, that's awesome that you're teaching him so young. Teach him well, but keep it fun and he'll be in it for the long-haul.

I also loved the little smirky-smile at the end! :)
