...At least studies posted by Harvard Medical School say so.

Write down three things that you are thankful for every day, for a week (or a month), at the same time each day. There were other things in the article you can do but this seemed the most straightforward takeaway for me.

The researchers say you will literally be happier.
Who doesn’t want to be happier?

One time long ago..I was in my 20's..I was having a real pissy day. Seemed that everything was falling on top of my shoulders.
...and I was looking to cut heads and take names.

The TV was on, and they brought up a story of a little 7 year old boy. He was in a wheelchair, and the neighborhood raised up money to get him a new power wheelchair so he could get around on his own.
So they asked him, well..what do you think?
With a big beaming smile, he says "I love everybody!"

Instantly I felt about 3 inches tall. My problems? Phtt. They were nothing compared to this wonderful little boy.
I've never forgotten it.
So when my car breaks down, or I need new windows in my house, or my job sucks that week..this little boy reminds me that yes indeed, I've got it made.

Same thing goes for me, when I find myself having a bad day. I try to stop and think about how greatly I have been blessed to have an awesome Church, loving friends and family, a wonderful (but hard-headed 12 y/o son), a warm place to sleep, and hot food in my stomach. Yeah sometimes I get bummed I can't go order a new gun this week, but when I pause and think of others. I am reminded there are people that have alot less, and are facing things alot worse than I. This Thanksgiving we will take a moment and go around the table and name something we are grateful for, we should do it at every meal.

If we keep GOD first place in everything we do, it helps to put things into perspective. It's hard for me sometimes when things first happen but then I realize I need to pause a moment. How truly Blessed we really are! :)
