Unfortunately we'll have to settle for takeout. We're having Thanksgiving with my parents (ages 91 and 88) who live too far away for us to cook food and take with us. But we'll have them, my daughter and son-in-law and their two children (6 and 4) so even though it will be restaurant food I'm very thankful.

I was told that we are eating out this year. Epic Chophouse in Mooresville. Normally we have prime rib

We usually eat out these holidays, but I'm feeling crappy, so maybe I'll be drinking nyquil for my "feast." I could send the family out to bring me stuff, I guess.....lol.

No clue. The core four nuclear family is on our own this year I think. I have suggested many alternatives, but I think it is my smoked turkey, cranberry sauce, smashed taters, mushroom stuffing, and maybe green beans. Not sure what my girls will bake for desserts. Cake or cookies of some sort. Then probably a cheese, veggie and shrimp plate for a snack later that day or evening if we need it.

We don't get any holidays as it is always work, work, work. That said we normally take 2-3 hours to woof what we can down.

The normal stuff is a given but I ran across this recipe that I'm going to give a try for finger foods leading up to the big shin dig. There's several folks that usually like hot stuff. It is usually our family, my uncle and his family, some of his close friends to the tune of 25ish folks.

Salami Ndjua (I ordered the chiles on Friday and now just need to go to harris teeter for the salami)

No idea, but Im making a cobbler and a casserole (likely greenbean)

I ordered a fried turkey from bojangle’s that is my contribution :)

As usual, Joanne and I will head out for Galax about 7AM Thanksgiving morning. We always go to my younger brother's for Thanksgiving. My older brother and my two daughters come as well as other family and friends that I only get to see once a year. Thanksgiving is kinda a big deal for us as it's the only time we are all together at one time.
We usually have traditional Thanksgiving food, turkey, pork loin, ham, and all the sides. Everyone brings something. Between friends and family, people are coming and going all day long. There is a lot of food and on Friday at suppertime, everyone is invited back for Round 2. This usually gets rid of all of the leftovers. The older that I get, the more I appreciate these Thanksgiving get togethers.

Typical fare for the day, but on Saturday we always have salmon or some sort of fish as a kind of /turkey cleansing.

Miss Lily: Sauterne gravy? Interesting. Anything specific or just typical amount of wine to acidify/balance the sauce? I've used Madeira or Marsala with pork and chicken, but hadn't thought about that traditional dessert wine with the meat itself. Like to hear more.

Skipping out on Thanksgiving this year, so the girlfriend and I are heading to Folly Beach. So I am guessing Sushi, clams and oysters at Snapper Jacks along with plentiful beverages, great beach, I can drink all I want, since everything is within walking distance. May go into Charleston, but that require remaining sober for the drive, so doubt it will happen and anyway, I prefer to hang out on the beach all day with the dogs.

Plenty of uber drivers around. Water temps are dropping so oysters are getting salty.

So far my wife has made 2 apple pies, 1 pecan, 1 chocolate , 1 sweet potato. I see on the stove from here on the couch some cubed bread. I stopped at Food Lion in Siler City and bought Sausage on the way home yesterday. She brought home 2 cases of corn , green beans , bag of potatos, 2 gallons of milk , some other stuff and a 21 lb turkey from Costco last week.
I'm in charge of cooking the Turkey... Which I'll start to brine this afternoon, inject with seasoned butter and use the gas grill as an oven to cook it.

Simmering giblets and greenbeans/bacon

We were supposed to have Daughter / Son-in-law , 3 granddaughters, their Husband / Wife / son friends....

But alas, it’s been dashed. The middle granddaughter has come up sick today.
So, we’ll finish cooking, have our dinner. Then go to the movies. The movies are open today ??, I’ll have to check.

Smoked turkey breasts, roasted brussel sprouts, sweet potato casserole, mashed potatoes, green beans, an unknown dessert my parents are bringing

Tenderloin went in the smoker at 8 this morning. Deviled eggs are made. Sweet potatoes will go in the oven shortly.

Shredded pork and chicken tacos, shrimp con queso etc. We do turkey stuff on Friday for some reason. Neighbors are coming over tonight as they do their Thanksgiving on Friday as well. Rumor has it Tequila and cards against humanity are going to happen.

I'm working for the entire dept, so probably a ham sandwich lol

Turns out there's Sgt Pepperoni and Cheese sausages left from last night, and I found Mince Pie on sale at work, which is more Christmas than Thanksgiving but it's been a while since I had any so I don't care lol

I'm sure the mob will bring me a turkey day plate from their visiting also.

Oh and more beer.
