The 45 is so slow that..

My 45 is so slow that I'm thinking of getting the .460...

People make fun of .45acp being slow ... then say hollow points need velocity to expand ... I never heard a .45acp had problems with expansion ... guess the 100+ year old government mule cartridge (along with the .45-70) just has some kinda of voodoo behind it that makes it work for those who believe in it ;).

One could argue the point that when your ammo is already the size of ashtrays, who needs hollowpoints?

I once shot a Coyote with my .45 and it was sooooo slow that he came closer to help speed up his demise....

I was shooting a paper target with my .45 last week and it was sooo slow the paper turned to dust before the bullet arrived..

A .45 is soooo slow it can see both AM and PM but not of the same day....

Wayyy back I tested 5-6 brands of 9mm, 40S&W and 45 through denim and 5 gal buckets of water. None of the subsonic rounds opened reliably. None of the 45's did, they exited as FMJ's, with one exception- the Flying Ashtray.
That's when I bought a 40 Short & Weak and carried 135g-155g Cor-Bons. They were the most dramatic energy dumpers out of everything I tested.

The .45 is the 5.56 of the pistol world. Both being basically ne'er-do-well's. :D

Don't let the anti's get wind of that! Amendment 2.5 to the Constitution: the right to keep and bear ashtrays shall not be infringed.

Let this be a lesson to you...

Don't shoot bad guys wearing 5 gallon buckets wrapped in denim.

:D

I was amazed the first time I was at a range and realized I could actually see the projectile in flight.

I've seen full throttle .357 and .41 Magnums in flight. It depends on the lighting and where the sun is.

The British had the "stopping power" issue figured out over 250 years ago with their .75 and later .69 caliber muskets.

Heavy ball. Light charge.

Regards.

45 is so slow it’s measured in fathoms per second.

Well...technically a fathom is a unit of LENGTH equal to 6 feet, though it most often refers to depth of water.

Soooo...when you're saying it's measured in fathoms, it could easily mean "too fast for fps to be meaningful".

Just sayin'.

:D

The 45 is like RAID. It kills bugs dead.

My preferred load is from ACME. A name you can trust. Regards 18DAI
