My wife and I have been streaming season 1 and 2 the last couple weeks. Great show. I’ve only known one chef in my life, and if his life and the shows I’ve seen about that life are accurate there’s no mystery about the correlation of drugs/alcohol/stress-related illnesses in that business.

“Fishes” is the most uncomfortable hour of television I have ever seen.

It was brilliant. I never want to see it again.

A close family friend was a chef at a fancy NYC restaurant. He OD’d on opiates (pills) that he was using as sleep meds due to the stress and anxiety. He was only in his mid twenties.

I’m into the second episode with my wife.

With all the hype and awards, we’re giving it a try.

I hate it. Nothing but arguing and stress at a job. What made you guys stick it out?

Took me forever to start the show because of that. Reminded me of working in a kitchen.

It’s worth it. It’s not all stress and tension. There’s a lot of it, but it makes for such a great contrast with the highs and humorous parts.

I worked in restaurants for a long time. The challenge was finding anyone who was >not< doing drugs of some sort.

I worked in kitchens my whole life until 5 years ago. Still haven’t had a desire to watch this. I’m sure I will at some point, I have heard good things about it.
