I do believe that when the mantle and robes of 1) our limited and darkened understanding and 2) the foolish, foolish, foolish predilection we have for attributing the providence of God to "natural laws ... when both of those are removed, we will also gasp in wonder at just how AMAZINGLY smart, complex, wise, powerful, far seeing and infinitely (again) SMART God is with the complexity and beauty and intricacy of creation. The guys who "discovered" modern science, Galileo, Kepler, Newton, Lord Kelvin, Faraday, Asa Gray, Lemaitre, Gregor Mendel, all of them and others shared a view that the universe was a display of the infinite wisdom and complexity of God, and that a man not blinded by prejudice and unbelief would be led to worship by studying creation itself.
I find the whole mandelbrot stuff to be quite beyond my ability to grasp. I am like the yokel standing in front of a spectacular painting saying "Shore is purty." I kind of look forward to when I have a renewed and supercharged intellectual capacity. The new age will be a blast for those who are inherently curious folk.
