The fact that stuff like this exists amazes me

I have an Hi Standard H-A . Its rough and not quite collector grade . I am going to make it into a integral suppressed .22 but they only made a thousand of the H-A's and I dont have the heart to carve up the original barrel . So I figured I'd look around and find another early Hi Standard barrel and keep the H-A barrel in case I ever want to reunite it with the gun. The barrels have different profiles between models but they pretty much all interchange between models up to the 50's. Did a little looking around and found a NOS model B barrel still in the original oiled paper wrap stamped Property of USA on top brand new condition after 80 years never been on a gun. $75. Maybe the only one like it. So thats the barrel I'm going to carve up :).

Are you sure you want to do that? the barrel alone is kind of a collector piece with that kind of pedigree. Maybe you need to put it back in the wrapper and buy a THIRD barrel...

It was hard enough finding that one. Ive got an HDM that I dont have any issue with cutting up and building an HDMI clone. They made a bazillion of those things. They made a crapload of B's too and they already have barrels. Its the H-A thats a rarity. To be honest I only paid $250 for the gun. None of this stuff is Antiques Roadshow valuable. The last B I had was damn near perfect and I paid $250 for that one but I couldnt learn to love it. Never did like fixed sight guns and with the short front sight you can't just put the adjustable rear sight on one.

That's the spirit!!! Every time that @BatteryOaksBilly takes a hacksaw to a gun, he says that it will make all of the other ones worth a little more.

I can't watch. :(

that it is 3/8", they also have longer lengths of 5/16"
It is a liner
The whole point being that I need to thread the barrel 1/2-28 to the base of the receiver. Its not about replacing the shot out barrel.

Ive owned at least a dozen and brought quite a few back from beyond the dead. You havent lived until you have fully disassembled a hammer model and put it back together without thinking about it.

Not at all what I was talking about... it looks like an easy enough barrel to make from scratch. Use the liner for the rifled bore.

So now, it won't exist............
