A neighbor has had one ordered since they announced them. He usually gets a new Vette every year or two. The last he had was a heavily modded C7 Z06. Here is his C8. I cannot wait to see him out and ask how he likes it. The photos don’t do it justice. It is one sexy beast.

Computer is locked so no tuning as of right now. I’m sure someone will break the encryption on it.

no manual option.

There are a couple guys working on it, as you can imagine. A few big youtubers are working on Twin Turbo setups but of course the tune is the hold up right now.
There’s a company in PA, I believe, who is replacing the cats with high flow street legal cats and it completely opens up the car sound-wise!

It doesn't do anything for me at all. Performance wise, yea the number and reviews look good but it just looks like any old generic mid engine. Not a fan of the interior either.

The C7 was FAR better looking IMO.

That said they will sell a ton just based on the performance : cost ratio alone.

I’m debating really really hard, just

snd C5-7 will drop a good bit

"We got the band together, Again". We are part of an RV/MH group that caravans or sets up a complex at the ACCT. We have been to Tampa and Charlotte, but usually have a bigger number of RV's in Greensboro. Our "Mayor" is Hendrick Auto Exec....and an avid MH'er. One of his guests brought this over on March 11 to put on display and also let folks sit in and drive around the GSO Coliseum parking lot. It WOULD have been the HIT of the complex as we have guests from all over NC and SC and the area. BUT....it STILL got attention. I was more familiar with the "Sound Management" options and controls that the fella that brought it over as I have a C7. I got it into the TRACK Mode. It has a REALLY nice "note" as the folks say. They played with it all night long and he finally left about midnight. Not really a good picture....but it is an awesome thing. I took the picture to also include my "other ride"....

Now from a practical standpoint, it is NOT a long gunner's vehicle. You PROBABLY could put an AR case or a take down O/U in the rear and there is a small compartment up front. BUT, if you were a BE shooter and drag around one of those "Boxes" the size of the TV repairman's tube caddy (NOTE....I was called, rather uncomplimentary today by a member with no class....a BOOMER). YES....he was not very polite and has trolling tendencies. I am technically NOT a boomer. I am a WWII baby....not many of us....but a few. Anyway....if you do not KNOW what a TV repairman's Tube Caddy breifcase is....google it or a BE Shooter's "Range Box". That MIGHT not fit.

The C8 is a wonderful machine. But, probably not for me. I had a C4 hatchback or coupe. We camped out of it (Tents, sleeping bags, ice chest, stove...the whole thing) for 5 days in the Mountains. We drove our C5 ragtop to a LOT of places....but it was more luggage challenged. My C7 is a hatchback or Coupe. I can get a LOT of stuff in the back....some stuff that the car seemed to think that it was beneath it's status to "tote", but it go over it. Think leaf blowers and chain saws and tools.... I can go to Myrtle Beach for a week long stay at our time share without any issues and we can stock up on food when we get there and drive around with the top stowed all the time. My GS loves it when I take it on our family trips.

Here is the dirty little secret....the C8's are going to cost a fortune....in that you will NOT get any "deals". The dealer ensemble in our complex was talking about that. For each dealer to get an "Allocation" or a single C8, he had to sell a certain number of C7's. GM did that so as to "use up" or not be stuck with the C7 inventories. GM put "Spiffs" out there. That lowered the net price. BUT, the dealers had to also lower their margins. Many of the final C7's went for say 20% UNDER invoice....that meant that there was a GM spiff or rebate....and the dealer forfeited his "Hold Back". I am too old to need or want one....but i still oggle or admire a like a nice looking middle aged Dolly Parton lady....I drool and lust (as long as DW is not around).

If your neighbor has NOT done the Ron Fellowes (assuming GM is still sponsoring) Driving School in Nevada (about 2 hours NE of Las Vegas), encourage him to do so. I did that 3 years ago. I have "Been Petty" a few times at the CMT....and was respectable for my advanced age and reflexes and "lack of common sense or fear". Doing a Road Course....by yourself and hitting your marks and having the skills and reflexes to know WHEN to get on it and how much and when to let off and such is a real challenge. Something that I really might do again .... after all this mess is over. Keeping up with the instructors is an adreneline producing moment....to be remembered or cherished. YES... I did break loose once or twice and scared the guy behind me.... BUT, the Vette and the traction control and the whole suspension software took care of me and I recovered quickly....spooked....but OK. I have the video taken with the built in camera and my GS chuckles when he sees the rear end break loose and you can see the G force change...

I have seen about 5 or so (not the same ones) around the Cary and RTP area. This area has more Vette's per square mile (on the road) that any other area or major city that I have visited. That covers a LOT of business traveling as I did about 1 Million miles in 15 or so years and can check off over 125 airports that I have flown IN and OUT of (not on a connecting flight). I drove a LOT of rentals....and would note the number of Vettes. My GS, who loves mine, picked up on that and when we travel in the MH or visit the major cities when traveling, he is also of the opinion that the RPT area is the Vette Capital of the world....probably not....but LA and SFO and Denver and (the list goes on) don't have them tooling around.

LUST....LUST.....I do NOT need this.... I have a nice C7... Please do NOT tempt me.... Tell you neighbor to drive it....I did that with all of mine and loved every minute of it.... I still take it to the range and the ride over and back is probably as exciting or as much fun as the time on the range.

This is the first one that holds my attention since ‘67. I used to restore (not own) them for concourse shows, got 2nd in the nation at Bloomington Gold with a black on black ‘66 big block convertible with A/C, power windows and locks.
They’ve done an impressive job!

Works for me, I wouldn't mind picking up a cheap c5-6 to play with.

My choice would be a C7. The ability to get electronics and certain CRITICAL parts on the C5 is a real downer. There is a plastic bumper that needs to be in place on the retractable headlight housing assembly that is the KEY to it working. If you lose the bumper or it cracks, the "headlights" will travel too far. THEN, when you either retract or open them up, the initial current to the motor exceeds the "Current Limiter" values. SO, the car thinks....OPPS, JAMMED....do NOT want to hurt someone or myself. GM killed the part. A fellow in the midwest was making brass gears for the motor reduction box. GM had plastic. I retrofitted mine. I had a few of the bumpers. I ordered them from some of the aftermarket supply houses. Not to spec of the durometer of the material was not the same. I sent him a sample and he finally got a molding company to make them....correct or similar material and also "hardness". That was a LONG process and I had to open the hood many times and give the"Manual override" button a few twists to start it to move. THEN BINGO....retry the switch GOOD to go. I have heard horror stories of electronic boxes that are upwards of $5K on the market....

C6, not to offend, was a rush job. I never really cottened to it from a looks or function. My dealer buddy loaned me one for a few weeks and I took it back. My C7 is great.... BUT, that is me. You can keep rebuilding the older ones WITHOUT all the electronics.....that is how Mexico kept their cars running. BUT, with the advent of Fuel Injection....their old fleet disappeared. Electronics are blessing and curse of cars today....

My guess is a 1956. It is missing the typical driver's side outside rear view mirror. Somewhere in the annals of my brain, there were features that made the 56 or maybe the 59's more user friendly....like having windows that rolled up and down.

I had a hopped up 1967 Chevelle SS 396. A younger buddy, he was my "bagger" in the supermarket, conned his dad into letting him drive the 56 ragtop that his dad had just bought. We traded for the night. I was the coolest thing, obviously with my DW seated beside me, at the Raleigh Shoneys. He was king of whereever he was crusin'....and I THINK he scored in the back seat. Thus he wanted a rear seat. It was a great trade and a cool memory.

The dual boob headlights on the 58 is a lust for me...

I'll be the first to tell you that I only know 2 things about Corvettes, I can't afford most of them and I know very little about any of their "personalities". I do appreciate that info though, had no idea there were problems with the headlight systems on the c5. If I get into a position where I'm ready to start looking for one I may drop you a line to pick your brain on what to look our for.

There is 1

Hey, ugly women get laid too lol

Looks Italian.
Except... As one reviewer put it, When you look at the rear deck, it says, my brother is a camaro.

Your discussion on space reminds me of a co-worker who was looking at the then new 'beemer Z3 at the dealer. When asked what he thought about the car, trying to be uppity, he remarked, there's not really room for my clubs. The reply from the salesperson was, Well sir, wouldn't you be leaving your clubs in your locker at the country club?
