Does chili have beans or not? This is a passionate subject on the internet and in public here. It's right up there with the meringue vs whipped cream vs Cool Whip debate, though I don't think anyone has gotten shot over 'nanner puddin' topping. People have gotten shot over beans vs no beans.

So, I found a loophole. I made a pot of beans. But, I also added some beef, tomatoes, onion, chili powder and, other seasonings. By calling it a pot of beans, I should be in the clear and avoid a gunfight at high noon. We'll see how it goes.

“Hot dog chili” has no beans.
“Chili beans” (as it’s called by its full name) obviously has beans.
This is the way I see it anyway.
Around here "chili beans" is a term made up by undesirables.

That looks great, no matter whatchya call it. I’ll be making some elk chili this week. I can’t wait! Whether or not it will have beans, well…

Does chili have beans or not?
Yes.

When my wife makes chili, she get it ready, removes some for her into another pot and then adds the beans for me. She will not eat beans.

Good riddance! 😂

Of course eastern chili is red and has beans and tomatoes and usually not enough spice. Texas bowl of red - no beans (or tomatoes) and a nice spice. In the Rockies they make green chili (no beans and nectar of the gods and spicy). I've also heard of white chili which is high on white beans (with chicken) and very low on spice. They are all good depending on what your mood is.

We make up a big batch of chili with no beans can it. When we reheat it we have the option of adding beans.

Next you need to start on Texas BBQ … you think the Carolinas has different opinions on BBQ Texas is worse. BUT they are 100% correct on their brisket!

As stated upthread:@Mustang Jon)
Hot dog chili = no beans
Pot of chili= pinto, black, and kidney beans and a lot of spice!

Chili has no beans just meat, spices, and water makes a bowl of the red, lid on no stirring and let her cook then add a little masa for thicknin and serve. That said I usually fix a pot of pintos on the side for those touched in the head.
