The Life of a Frontier Gunsmith

I thought this was an interesting interview about gunsmiths in the 18th century.

Townsend's does some really great videos of 18th century living in general. They're also an awesome company to deal with; most of my Continental uniform came from them, and they had to tailor made for me, including the rabbit-fur felt hat, in under 10 weeks.

Glad to hear they're the real deal. I enjoy keeping up with their YouTube channel.

They’re probably one of the most responsive companies I have ever dealt with. Some of the snootier folks in the re-enactment world turn their nose up at a lot of their clothes because every stitch isn’t done by hand, or because they rely on customer provided measurements, the fit may not be exactly period correct.

That said, if you follow their measurement guide, you can get damn close. I’ve had to show several the Townsends tag in my regimental coat because they didn’t believe it came from there. I’m completely satisfied and order from them whe. I need stuff.

A lot of the recipes they do videos on are good as hell too.
