The Mandalorian

Episode 4 had too much of a Star Trek feel to it. I don’t hate that, but Star Trek ran 24 episode seasons, so they have time for random side quest stories. With such a short season, I don’t want filler. but I guess the character development is important.

I don't totally disagree...I was a bit surprised to see it be a very compact episode as opposed to the larger arc the other episodes have had so far. That said, I did still enjoy it, it was just different and I wasn't totally expecting it. It did a decent job of giving some more back story on the Mandalorians and their armor habits and stuff. I wanted to really like the other bounty hunter/merc he teamed up with, but her acting was a tad stiff.

It was part of the larger story arc in that it showed run/hide is not an option. I agree they could have made that point without devoting an entire episode to it. Now he has to bring the fight to them, so next episode should be a "laying the groundwork" chapter.

Do you know who that was?

She wasn’t necessarily hired for her acting chops. When your previous big roles were in one of the Fast & Furious movies, and also Deadpool, I don’t expect much. And she didn’t need a stunt double. ;)

It is Gina Carano. She is a former Strikeforce MMA star. She got knocked out by Cyborg and retired from MMA to be an actress. She is good for these types of rolls IMHO.

I knew exactly who it was, in case I wasn’t clear in my post.

I much prefer her over Rousey for these roles.

There are only so many stories to tell. This was their version of the Magnificent Seven. You can bet that if the series goes on long enough there will be a Rashomon episode and a Die Hard episode to come.

As far as diversions from the story go, life is like that.

Great minds think alike. I got one for the wife for Christmas! LOL
Was hoping for a hoodie, but the T was all they currently offered. Customer service said they might have the other stuff later. I also got her a hoodie with the dates scrolling like the movie openings. The good news is both were free (with the BOGO deal), so I bought two things I wanted and got these as surprises for her.

Uh, like, that wasn't the only thing that was stiff beavis

Nice I had already bought it before the BOGO deal. :(

I guess I'm becoming spoiled... I HATE this waiting bullshite... I want to BINGE!!!!

This has been my issue as well. Ive been spoiled by coming in late on all the other shows out there. I want to sit down and watch 10 hours worth of blasters and armor...not 30 minutes and then a week of waiting.

Easy to fix.

I've got so many other shows to catch up on Netflix right now, between work and whatnot, that I figure I'm be able to binge watch the entire season of this one by the time I'm caught up.

I have a question what is up with the women who wants to unmask the Madalorian and already knows how to shoot?

4 kids at home...I watch Netflix either at the gym, or at 11 at night.

Seems out of place in the village. She is only in one episode so I guess it goes nowhere.

Exactly like me...I don’t fit in the village and I generally last about and episode and I haven’t been anywhere in years.

Gina is kind of stiff, but if you watch her first movie, she now looks like an oscar winner in comparison!

So, she has a way to go, but she’s improving!

And, yeah, much more pleasant that scowly Ronda.

Yeah, Rhonda is a shite actress too... I think Gina will be fine. Plus, she's way cuter than Rhonda...

The 14yo and I binge-watched the first 4 episodes last night. I liked the first 3; they were on topic and followed the established story line. The 4th episode took a little strange turn into a side story for the sake of drama. It reminded me of The Walking Dead, in that the first several episodes were character development while focusing on the problem at hand - find food, shelter, ammo/guns, and figure out how these things behaved. Then came the drama riddled side stories where forward progress on the story line halted for this waste of an episode side trip.

I get it, that's how a series stays alive, but I'm not a fan. I want to see measurable progression.

Seriously? Amy Sedaris? Weird.

That pick was all Jon Favreau but I was ok with it. Up to this point the plot and acting was sort of stiff. Only true humor was the Yoda Baby via irony. Sedaris was an introduction of humor in the story line. Also there to increase Yoda Baby cuteness. At this point it is a merchandise goldmine. LOL

It didn't fall flat for me. The last frame of the episode I hope was a glimpse into "the client" who I believe is Giancarlo Esposito as Moff Gideon. The flowing cape. The jingles of spurs? The color of the boot, pants and cape fit.

I am glad they have physically moved the Madalorian into the "known" Star Wars universe. I would be willing to bet that is the same hanger the MF was in when Solo docked there. If it is not the same hanger it is clearly modeled after it. I liked the references to Beggar's Canyon. #BeggarsCanyonbackhome
