He's still kinda a crappy fighter. If it wasn't for his beskar he'd get killed in every fight. He's more walking tank than tactician...

Is it due out April 2020 as well? They really boned the merchandising. A rare miss for a company like Disney but probably the most epic one too...

Yeah Kenner screwed up the merchandise in 1977 when Star Wars released.

By Christmas 1977, Star Wars had become the highest-grossing film of all time, and Kenner still had no toys to sell other than quickly-manufactured picture-based products like puzzles, board games, and paint sets. Enter the Star Wars Early Bird Certificate Package: an empty box, essentially, save for a few stickers and a certificate kids could fill out and send in to guarantee they’d be among the first to own a set of Kenner’s action figures. The lineup included Han Solo, Leia, Luke, R2-D2, a Stormtrooper, C3PO, and a curious little fellow named “Death Squad Commander” (soon re-dubbed “Star Destroyer Commander” because, what?).

I don’t think I I’d go so far as to say he is a crappy fighter, he wears armor for a reason and does dive into fights others can’t because of it. The whole gang was hiding from the security droids and he ran in and took care of business. I think it highlights exactly why Beskar and the armor is so important to mandalorians. It’s their “lightsaber” of sorts in that it allows them to come out on top where others wouldn’t.

Yeah but he's all tech, no style. And it's crazy inconsistent. He can be surrounded by stormtroopers and pop them all with whistling birds without a scratch but can't hit one big guy with horns, he's a crack shot but can't manage to hold on to his blaster in a fight. On top of that he has the oddest weapons. A flamethrower? That cable he uses to pull droids into each other (they are amazingly fragile when he's fighting them).

It's just all over the place... I mean, I get it. You have to add adversity so he can overcome it, and it's sci-fi so we are suspending belief but still...

Dude would get merc'ed pretty easily and sold off as parts if it was realistic.

All in all though I like it a lot and it is definitely the best Star Wars thing I have seen in a long time. For sure since Disney took over.

I see your points, just see the counter of them as well. I see him as a young Mandalorian in the grand scheme of things and sometimes his tactics and methods work and sometimes they don’t. He has been around enough to have history, but not enough to be Boba Fet level yet.

And yes, it does take a lot of suspension of disbelief to be entertaining. Would be ultra boring if he just walked into every situation and fired off a few whistling birds and everyone dies.

Did anyone notice the Yoda scene when the droid found him?

He was about to defend himself with the Force and Mando blew the droid away. Yoda looked at his hand like DAMN! It was subtle but I laughed.

Yeah, raffed our roud.

Obviously, baby Yoda is to be Heisenberg's replacement. He knows the secret to making the blue stuff.

He can't be Boba. IMHO the time line is wrong. Boba and Jango were not true Madalorians from Concordia. This Madalorian is. He is not a clone. I am still waiting for the connection to Obi Wan from his time on Concordia from the Clone Wars. Some people think he was saved by Obi Wan who returned him to his people where he became a foundling.

I thought it was a strong episode.

Perhaps we'll find out in February when the new season of clone wars comes out.

Bob Iger confirmed that “The Child” has a name and it is not Yoda but that it is tied to the known Star Wars universe. He also stated they did not release any toys for Christmas because in order to produce them they would have had to disclose the existence of “ The Asset” to the toy companies which would have been leaked.

but at least the usual Hollyweird tropes aren't ruining it yet.
might have spoken too soon.

So in the last episode, we get to hear the former Imperial officer, who of course has a German accent, talking about order and safety - which of course people should always forego in favor of freedom and degeneracy. I'm so tired of Hollyweird lecturing us about the Third Reich. What are the odds Hollyweird will depict the horrors of Bolshevik rule? Precisely ZERO.

/mini-rant

At least they used Gina Carano for the obligatory kick-ass female beating up much larger men instead of some Natalie Portman sized actress, so I'll give them credit for that.

Man that is such a stretch. I guess if you look for that type of stuff you will find it. When you are constantly holding a hammer in your hand everything looks like a nail.

In the end that it completely fits the story narrative. The Madalorian is set 5 years after Return of The Jedi and 25 years before The Force Awakens. The New Republic has not been established. There is a lack of order in the universe and by the time The Force Awakens happens the order which is present is the First Order not the New Republic. They IMHO doing a good job of dovetailing The Mandalorian into the known Star Wars Universe established by the Skyywalker narrative.

Moff Gideon, who is clearly not an Aryan reference, arrives and kills The Client AKA Werner Herzog. Herzog is not known for changing is accent as an actor. "Moff Gideon" is a Sector Governor who it is assumed will be part of the remnants of the Empire which will be come the First Order. His dark suited Stormtroopers are reminiscent of the elite troopers from Rogue One and other Star War cannon. Most people believe that he is the bridge to the sequel trilogy. It fits.

When you are aware of the anti-white, anti-family, anti-Christian, anti-nationalist bent of Hollyweird, these things stand out. When not aware, they just blend into the background, which is the best way to propagandize people.

Again when you are constantly holding a hammer in your hand everything looks like a nail. People often see what they want to see through the lenses they put on. If it is so horrible why do you support it?

I get it that you feel that way but when I look at Hollywood historically it has been extremely Pro to everything you say it is anti about. In the past their content was much more restrictive and propagandish. Today there is a much lager more diverse representation of ideas, culture and narratives. Maybe you don't like the pluralism of the narrative but to my eyes the more viewpoints the better.

Or maybe you're just not seeing the nails? They aren't easy to spot when you're not tuned in. I'd bet 99.9% of the people who watched Deadpool 2 didn't catch the jab at the Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville. Just because most don't notice (which is the hallmark of good propaganda) doesn't mean it isn't intentional. Anyway, I'll leave it at that, so we can get back to the thread topic. But if anyone wants to discuss in a separate thread, I'm happy to engage. Until then, I'll continue watching, hammer in hand.

I'm gonna binge this.

I'm so far behind on other things, by the time I get caught up there will be at least 2 seasons to binge watch!
Well, final episode of season 1 is this Friday. Don’t think I’ve seen a premiere date for the second season.

...and you do get Season 7 of Clone Wars airing in Feb ‘20.

Awesome episode in my opinion. The two storm troopers goofing off was hilarious. Action pretty much non stop. Ended the season with a cleanish slate and ready for it to be Mando searching for the baby’s people and running from Mof DarkSaber McStabbyPants

My wife is one of those that talks to the TV. The only thing louder than me chuckling during the target practice, was her shriek every time (especially the first) the trooper punched the bag.

And then the “that’s right, that’s what you get for punching baby yoda” she yelled when the droid took care of both of them. :D
