The most unpleasant gun you've ever shot

I shot a cheap .22 revolver once that sent a piece of metal into my cheek. It didn't initially hurt too bad, but the next couple weeks sucked until that piece of metal came to the surface so I could pull it out.
My moms had some sort of crappy .22 revolver that would shave rounds and send them flying. That thing got mom in a self defence situation once lol done more damage to her thumb than the intruder.

I think mine was the cheap nickel plating that kept flaking off the cylinder

I wood have to say a Pioneer 20guage single shot. It is light as a feather. My grandfather bought it for my dad when he was younger. I hunted with it when I was younger. The rich kids had their Rem 1100s and we would hunt dove. I could hold 2 shells between my fingers and bring down 3 times as many birds as they did. I would come home with blue/purple/yellow bruises on my shoulder. I refinished that gun for my dad a few years back. Its one of the few items I have of his.

For those that avoid the .44 mag. A Dan Wesson with a 6inch heavy vent barrel and hogue rubber grips is the one to shoot. 5grains of bullseye and a cast 240gr lead bullet is easy peasy.

475 Maximum

One round sucked, four more after? That was just stupid...

One of those old Remington pump-action 30.06; worst kicking rifle I've ever fired, and I am definitely not recoil-sensitive.

Sig 2022 in .40 cal! Hurts right down to my trigger finger! I haven’t shot it in years!

I have an old 760 in 30.06, 18.5" barrel. Got it from a forum member.
I like shooting that gun, it handles well. But yeah, it lets you know who's boss. 4 shots is a much as I'll put through it before I set it down for the day.
The plastic butt plate is not your friend. I thought about putting a squishy one on there but it's a great gun to hand to the mouthy guys..."Here..try this one.."

This one:

It is ugly. It shoots a bizarre, uncircumcised and under-powered round. It has what feels like a gritty 8 inch, 40 pound trigger pull in double action. In the hierarchy of awful firearms, these rank right up there at the top; somewhere between Lorcins and Hi Point factory seconds.

I’m am not scared of recoil. I enjoy shooting big bore lever actions, but I hated shooting the Beretta 1201FP. You’d think a semi-auto shotgun would have less recoil than a pump action but not this one. And the controls are dumb. No fun at all. Do not want to shoot another.
I've heard that many times about the 1201

Keltec P3AT
Ouch!

Agree here. P3AT is not a pleasant gun for an afternoon of range plinking. Especially if you've not taken a knife and shaved off the mold flash around the gun.

Really tiny concealable, very light auto that is not fun to shoot.

Had a chance to buy one for like $200 and passed after listening to some guys talk about it.

Is it still available? I think the world of mine. The recoil is somewhat stout but not painful IMHO. Granted in my younger and dumber days I shot a ton of 3.5" shells out of Nova duck and turkey hunting.

Bowen built Bisley in 475 Linebaugh.
I have to change this somewhat..during our Meet and Greet, a member from Charleston had a 475 here and offered it to me to shoot. I took it and shot it at some hanging discs at about 25 yards and went 5 for 5 in a fairly rapid manner. I fully intended to shoot once and hand back. His rounds felt like a warm 44 in a RBH. These must have been some loaded down stuff he brought.
A REAL 475 in full song is NOT recreational.

2” 500sw.

I think they should have let him do single shots on each target seeing as he was running like 500 pf.

I don’t know who this guy is but it seems like he likes to party. Hope this was a smaller match cause typical round counts would get expensive.

8mm Mauser

I know two people who have them, German & Spanish. I've shot them both, both shoot the same.

Both owners love them and insist " you just have to learn how to shoot it." But I've shot bith enough to be convinced it's just not worth it.

Both were extremely accurate with iron sights. The 8mm round will tear up a log. But my God they'll hurt your shoulder for days doing it.

I had one of those and swapped it for a 4 incher. BIG difference. The littler one recoiled so hard that the middle two fingers of the shooting hand a couple of days later felt like you had purposely tried to pull them off your hand.

shortly after getting to boot camp it was time to go to the range, the instructor grabbed a garand and shot one handed,

i ever shot anything beyond a 22. to me it was WTF. they are comfortable once you know what to expect.

Ouch! And I can handle a 454 Casull Snubby
But the Sig P238 is awesome.

Ruger LCR 38
Again, 38+P hurts. The shape of it doesn’t suit my hands. I prefer The S&W 442.

Mossberg 500 shotgun. Mosin Nagant.
Painful.

I prefer having Rubber grips on most revolvers.

I second the statement re: the KelTec. In fact, I have the P3AT, the P32, the PF-9 and the P-11 and they’re all painful to shoot much without gloves. They’re all light but what you lose in weight you gain in pain!

Years ago I had an AMT .380 Hardballer (I think that’s what it was called). Trigger weight was about 20 pounds. Took two hands and about 4 fingers to “squeeze “ the trigger. Then hurt like hell. Also had an Ithaca 12 gauge double barrel with single selective trigger that would sometimes let both barrels go at once. That was always good for a laugh.

My former revolver, a Taurus Ultra Lite....very painful.

I think the worst gun I've shot was some charter arms .38 special. The cylinder was off just a little and you could see the copper jacket scraping away at the breech. I love me a revolver, but man did that thing feel flimsy.

I have one of those. 10 rounds of .30 M2 ball will get your attention! I think this thing contributed to my eventual torn rotator cuff.

I gotta put my 6.5" .41Mag Ruger Blackhawk with stout loads on the list. That XR3-RED/Colt Navy grip frame is fine with milder loads (215gr at 1000-1100fps), but with 240gr at 1400+ fps, the bottom of the grip frame jabs the holy hell outta the heel of my palm. This sucker's relegated to plinker duty, unless/until I can install a Bisley or Super Blackhawk Hunter grip frame.

I've zero interest in shooting a .475 Linebaugh, though I've fantasized about a .480 Ruger single action for a while. The thought of a '.48 Colt' lobbin' 400gr boolitz at 800-900fps just makes me smile.

Yeah!!! Here you go sonny boy... try this one!

Dad's has a Metal Buttplate!!! Beats anything I ever seen...
They are horrible in .270 as well. I had one for my first deer rifle and refuse to own another .270 to this day. Hands down the most painful gun I have ever shot.
