The NRA Says It’s in Deep Financial Trouble, May Be ‘Unable to Exist’

Wouldn't it be a hoot if the libs tried to do the same thing to other civil rights groups. The uproar would be heard around the world.

No it wouldn't.

Freedom isn't all that popular anymore in these United States.

The ACLU is starting to debate when it defends Free Speech based on the content of that speech. There is no outcry.

Gun control is openly talked about - and the only outcry is from a very vocal minority.

Police have forcibly removed innocent families from their homes and used them as 24 hour staging areas for police use. Courts have upheld the practice. There is no outcry.

The government - federal, State, and local - surveils and gathers massive amount of data on every American man, woman, and child. They electronically strip search, and in many cases grope/sexually assault men, women, and children by the thousands. They rummage through their belongings. All without a warrant. There is little to no outcry.

We have calls for the removal of Rights of individuals based on government lists, or based simply on calls to police. It's been established that police may seize money and property without conviction of a crime, and that they get a cut of all cash seized extrajudicially. Little to no outcry.

The government has detained and killed American Citizens after proceedings of secret courts, with secret evidence and secret witnesses. When the accused have asked to see the evidence against them, or confront those witnesses, they have been denied. No juries. No outcry.

The federal government charges those acquitted by State and county courts when the federal government wanted a conviction. When even that avenue looks uncertain, they ambush and kill American Citizens along the roadways of America. The outcry comes only from a vocal minority.

Excessive bail is often set in high profile cases - especially where there is no real victim other than the woundedwpride of the State for defiance of the law. No outcry.

The federal government has stepped so far outside the bounds set for it in the Constitution, and treaded into areas reserved for the States or the People. Little to no outcry. In fact, most people squabble over who should get to control Leviathan rather than the fact that Leviathan is immoral and dangerous to a Free People.

Thinking the majority of Americans care enough about their Rights that there would be a groundswell of anger is wishful thinking at best.

Hey! You be quiet. As long as we have Facebook, Netflix and video games everything is fine. ;)

When did they endorse Harry Reid?

On November 12, the NRA told Breitbart News there is “absolutely no scenario” in which they would endorse Senator Harry Reid (D-NV) in 2016.
Reid’s last run for office was in 2010, and even then, the NRA refused to endorse him. The NRA made clear that neither the organization nor executive vice president Wayne LaPierre endorsed Reid.

Since then—and especially since the heinous, criminal attack on Sandy Hook Elementary in December 2012—Reid’s push for gun control has only widened the chasm that existed between him and the NRA in 2010.

The NRA told Breitbart News: “Given his actions, votes, and full-throated support of the Obama-Bloomberg gun control agenda, there is absolutely no scenario where the NRA would endorse Senator Reid.”

You need to go back a little further in time than 2016. NRA had Reid rated a "B" at one time back in the late 90's and early 2000's which is an endorsement of sorts. Heck, it wasn't that long ago that Manchin (D-WV) had an "A" rating from the NRA.

I read somewhere, I will look for the source and provide when I locate it, that they could not obtain/afford Media liability Insurance. And because of that they might have to drop their NRA TV show. Don't sound like they are going "Belly up" to me.

Media liability insurance?

That's a thing?

And a necessary thing?

Cripes a'mighty, a few of us need to form an association of sorts to come up with some other kind of nonsensical insurance to sell people....

Social Media Insurance? If you drunk post and lose your job it will provide a sum of money to hold you over until you find new employment.

Damn, can't believe I just gave up my brilliant idea. :(

No, no.... that's why it's an association. Your idea, others' investment and advertising......the key is the legalese to shield the corporation from getting taken to the cleaners.....

I've been annoyed with the NRA ever since 2012 when the insulted my intelligence by insisting that the only way to defeat Obama was for me to purchase some stupid "challenge coin". So while insulting my intelligence they appropriated a strictly military tradition at the same time. I haven't had anything to do with them since.

I am sorry to say this. As long as I remember the NRA has been claiming it is in dire need of money, and those of us who don’t donate until it hurts are un-American and have no intention of supporting the Second Amendment. I for one am sick and tired of it. Perhaps the NRA should take a good look at its' overhead.

A real good Monday morning, well lit look in the mirror may be in order too. Then again that could affect those all important salaries they are getting paid. Don't need to fix anything, just get PAID!!

What office do you hold?

If not, when are you running?

I hold no office, save for a couple voluntary positions with a couple of non-profits.

I would like to run, but I also like being alive - and it would be a race between the State and the wife, who is one hell of a good shot, to see who killed me first.

In the end, she doesn't want our children exposed to the kind of shit they'd be exposed to. Though I have considered tossing my hat in the ring for Governor on the Libertarian ticket (even though I'm not a big L libertarian), so it's not Pizza or some other super weirdo.

I did not get the idea that the NRA was running short of money but rather that they have been targeted to have their ability to access insurance and banking services severely reduced or completely eliminated. Even if they had tons of money sitting in every room of their office, it would be difficult to conduct business as usual without insurance or banking services.

You got me laughing.
I was excited when I heard Austin Peterson, and that was running for president. Then discouraged when the not serious goofball Gary Johnson won the liberty primary. I REALLY wanted to vote for someone and not hold my nose again. I've been holding it since 1987 and am finished, I wrote in Ted Cruz.

New York City Launches Voter Registration Drive in Jails
It needs to be changed to those that contribute and have skin in the game vote, land owners and tax payers.
So these NY traitors to the Constitution wants to strip the NRA and citizen rights, yet he wants criminals in jail to be able to vote for more stuff!

Unless the prisoner has been convicted of a felony, they still have the right to vote. Yet, some days I'm happy that I'm now as, Billy explained it, living on interest time. I'm really quite pleased that I'm not 30 years younger.

The issue is the State of NY using its power and influence over the financial industry, much of which is HQed in NYC To get them to stop financial dealings with the NRA. The insurance co who underwrite the NRA carryguard insurance has been bullied into stopping their business deal with NRA. That is the issue in the lawsuit

Really sounds like a different approach to raising funds.

I joined the NRA a number of years ago, and before I even received my membership card, I was getting URGENT mail that I needed to renew my membership before it expired (in 11 months and 2 weeks). Then came the solicitations for wine and a whole lot more that went into the recycling bin without being opened.

Raising funds and probably some pre-lawsuit PR? Which is smart. If they can get in the heads of one person it might matter. That person might be a judge somewhere reading that article.
