I took my December 1941 Garand to Saturday's Rowan Co. Wildlife high power match, along with some 1969 Greek surplus ball ammo. This was the second time I've shot this type of match. Stunned to win the Garand division. The enbloc jammed during the seated rapid fire portion, so only fired 42 of 50 rounds of the course of fire. I wonder if I could sneak a match prepped M1 into the house?

good work! Brian always ran a good match and he's a great shooter too.

...and yes, it is easy to sneak a match prepped M1 into the house. Been there, done that. :D

They look just like an issued M1, except for the hooded rear sight, so just tell this mrs that you brought your as-issued M1 from the gunsmith. Put it in the safe quickly before she gets a good look. I sent a CMP gade-A receiver and a box of parts to my gunsmith and a few months later I had my full-tilt NM M1 in .308win. I had a laminated stock on mine, so I just told my wife I had an old M1 restocked.

You're right about how the match was run.... I may have taken a big bite of the apple, even though I found the discipline extremely challenging. Ordering die set for the Dillon. Wonder what size jacket my gangly frame requires...... $$$$$

You will also want to get a very stiff pair of tall (well over the ankle) boots. That alone will remove or reduce a lot of instability when firing standing, unsupported.
