A perk of the new forum is getting threads like this started. I want to see them all! Post up your 870 home defense (tacticool) builds / hunting / slug guns. Build info a definite +

I bought a 870p 5 or so years ago and haven't done much to it yet. Of course 5 years ago was smack in the middle of the hydrographing craze, so mine has been dipped in Proveil's Reaper print. After seeing the ceracoat thread on here and seeing some clean/clever examples at the show in Greenboro today, I think mine might be due some love.

Hate to start a thread without pics, but photo bucket simply refuses to cooperate lately.....so pics when i can.

As promised:

My 870 Wingmaster Deer has taken so many deer that I stopped counting. It began as a hurried purchase due to a last minute invitation to hunt in a shotgun only zone, which became an annual pilgrimage for a couple decades.

It was an 18' improved cylinder at the time, but later I put a 22" Hastings rifled barrel with an integral scope mount on it, making it a genuine 125 yard deerslayer.

One of a few I will likely never sell or trade.

Well...no pics added so far, so I'll start. Here are my two 870s:

I love mine. What I have done to it:
  • Exstended the forcing cone
  • Ported the barrel
  • Polished the bolt and inside the receiver
  • Added fiber optic sights
  • Installed a 6x side sattle
we offer these services too!

Great shooting 12ga

I only have a Winchester 1300 Defender. They dont make this model anymore. Luckily I did get some aftermarket goodies for it back when it was in production. Sure wish I could find a slug barrel for it tho.

Those fall under the NFA shroud? Very nice btw.

Yep. Bought them a couple weeks apart in Dec '15 and Jan '16, then filed Form 1s the day I brought each one home.

12.5" 20ga 870 Express compact model
14" 12ga 870P w/ +1 extension

the shorter stock (and lack of +1 ext) puts the 20ga ~2.5" shorter than the 12ga

My fave 870's. A 870 Express with police wood, 18" barrel, + 2 mag extension. 870 Police Magnum LE trade-in with 20" barrel, + 3 mag extension. The Specter Gear slings are the best slings I've found for the 870, have one on my turkey gun too.

1970 Wingmaster bought for $150 in a New Bern pawn shop a few months s back. Best to hell, but still shoots great. Getting restored as a tactical style shotgun.

I have been unable to find a certain barrel configuration that I think would be interesting for turkeys and general hunting use. I would like to find a smooth bore barrel with choke tubes and a cantilever scope mount. Anyone know if such a thing exists?

My 870 shotguns have stayed unmodified except for a little reshaping of one stock to make it fit me better.

Check out Carlson's barrels, same company as the choke tubes. They have some barrel options that would be hard to get from Remington. I have one of their 24" VR barrels for turkey, it's a fine barrel.

IMG_1046.JPG Here's one I have and love that's a little of an oddball. 870 wingmaster super mag I bought at colonial gun shop new and has probably at least 1000 rounds through it. Been a great gun and never given me any problems.
