Any body else catch this yet. So far, except the episode with the alien sex change operation on an infant episode I've dug it.

It isn't at all what I expected. It's like a new Star Trek with Seth McFarlane humor spliced in.

But it's well timed humor and really funny.

Few posts about it in the Star Trek thread. I went in with few expectations but it has been good so far. Seth hasn't taken it too serious or too far into "Family Guy in Space" as I said in the other thread. Been a good mix. Yes, the sex change baby episode was a little strange but you got to see big alien butt sitting on a nested egg...if you like that kind of stuff...

Yep. I think it's hilarious.

We've been watching it. My wife really likes the humor in it. It is good to get a Trek Fix since CBS made theirs a pay per view series. On a side note, I'm really getting disgusted with them on their handling of Trek, such as the suit over Prelude to Axanar which looked like it was going to be awesome. Of course it covered the Klingon war as does the new series. They can't be out done obviously.

I thought Seth McFarlane was a flaming liberal? Why are you guys supporting him?
There isn't much of Holyweird that isn't. His personal views aside, he created a very funny show. BTW, I don't particularly consider myself "conservative" either.

I'm watching it. It appeals to my juvenile sense of humor, and so far hasn't gone too over-the-top, like Family Guy sometimes does.

My wife and I enjoyed the first two episodes. Although I'm a little afraid to watch the third one after what I've read...

Don't let it scare you off, it foes get a little bit preachy but it isn't handled badly and the next episode after that one is much better.

Was is just me or did that episode kind of push the surgery to change your sex is stupid? Almost against the transgender stuff.

That's kind of what I took away from it too. I kept trying to find the liberal propaganda in it, but I'm not sure I came up with anything.

I hate to say it, but I think The Orville is out Star-Trekking Star Trek. I guess it's pretty early to be making a claim like that though.

That's pretty much my take too. It certainly wasn't a liberal push for it. Minor spoiler, my wife made the comment that the one who was also changed at birth was still acting very much like a female in the ice cream scene; which would not fit the librul agenda.

I listen to the Adam Carola podcast and he say McFarland is the most common sense person he has ever met and that’s what makes him so funny.

That's always been my take on him and honestly where most of my humor comes from, making fun of things to blow them outside what is (Edit: What should be) common sense.

I must have seen a different show, lol. I tried watching it. The first episode was so bad though that I couldn't justify wasting any more time on it. It seemed worse that the original Star Trek episodes in both acting and writing! :p

We watch it. Generally OK, but sometimes a little too much of Seth McFarlane's corny humor. I could dig a Sci-Fi show that doesn't take itself too seriously, though. Maybe they will get it right.

I really hope they do. I like the light hearted approach that they take. I'm getting tired of everything being dark and gritty these days.

The campy humor strikes me funny, I think it's going good and the acting should get better and better.
So long as they keep the political bash even, it's fine by me.

Been decent action in the new Star Trek Discovery, more action and less diplomacy, which some hardcore trekies hate. More along the line of the new movies instead of the older series.

I’ve been watching both the Orville and Star Trek Discovery. I agree, all the Orville episodes have been decent except the baby sex change one.

It was announced this show was moving to Hulu awhile back. It’s been a couple years since the last season, but new episodes are dropping as of last week. Just watched the first two. (Called “New Horizons” instead of Season 3)

Thank you for posting. I really like that show. My wife said it even scratched that "star trek itch" when Paramount put everything behind their paid streaming service and the fan movie Prelude to Axanar got sued into the ground.

my wife and I like this show as well, wonder what they are going to do with the alien voiced by norm McDonald, or if he finished the season before he passed.

it’s a bit meta watching the show with the actress Penny Jerald who plays the doctor who is also in two other shows I’m slowly making my way through (Castle and DS9 before it also drops off Netflix like the rest have)

ds9 really sets a standard for star trek series storyline. I'm not sure why it's kind of ignored, but it's good. is it not woke enough? i bet that's it. it never had stacey abrams on as president of earth
