While Netflix can certainly make some stinkers, at least they kill it with this series (in my humble opinion).

One thing that John Bernthal does much better than either Adolph Lundgren, Thomas Jane, or even Ray Stevenson, is project boiling yet barely contained rage.
I think he’s the best Punisher so far.

It took me the whole of season 1 to get over my Shane hate, but yes, he is fitting into the roll nicely.

I may have glanced at one or to Punisher comic books back in the 90’s. Otherwise, I don’t come to the series with any preconceived notions of what he should look or act like. I get the background and typical storyline—that shapes an image of what he should be/do, and so far, he’s killing it!

I went through a couple episodes last night, it’s really good. It’s really good, the cgi blood is pretty low budget but story, action, and acting make you forget about it real fast.

    Shane hate!!!
    Hahahahahhahaha
That made me do a spit take.
But did you hate Shane as much as Laurie?

So with Adolph Lundrgen, who looked pretty good, but is a very wooden actor, and the story and writing were not good.

With Thomas Jane, he was too pretty, and scrawny, and didn’t seem mad, you know, that his family had been murdered and all.

Ray Stevenson looked the most like Frank Castle from the comics, and did a good job, but the movie was played straight, as I not a comedy, and Dominic West as Jigsaw was just so silly.

John Bernthal has added a layer of humanity.
He seems pissed off, and ready to explode, and he kinda growls when he gets mad.
    I really dig it.

I just binged watched season 2 over the past 2 days. OMG was it awesome!! I thought the bar tender chick was Hot! And having him protect the kid shows what a great father he was. That Russian/Amish guy was cool...I liked how he spoke.
Loved it! I'm a huge punisher fan

Second season was better than the 1st. A few obvious twists and some obvious bad choices a guy like that would never make, on top of the insane amount of beating and injury that can randomly be taken right next to other people who must be made of glass, but I could suspend belief and enjoy it...

Best of the Marvel stuff for sure...

I have to disagree a little here. I think he would have neglected his kids, driven people often do. They think there will always be time but there isn't.

I also have to say that was the most depressing hook up I've ever seen.

Im watching the season now, and am really enjoying it, but I do have a few things that bug me. I think they are drawing out Billy's "re-awakening" a bit too much. Its like...I get it...he is tormented...but lets move on with it. Seeing him constantly having these mini-emotional sadness pity parties just gets old. If he is manipulating the therapist chick, then cool, lets move on with it. Otherwise, one of the main bad guys is just an emo-sissy who is good at shooting people and manipulating veterans.

I do like the Pilgrim character and wish he was in it more. I'll admit that the "creepy Christian" murderer guy reminds me a bit much of the antagonist in The Davinci Code. But the actor is doing it very well.

    I agree,
the Pilgrim is a cool character, and played to perfection. I'd like to see a little more of his background as it is obvious he was a Nazi/skinhead...

Yeah, Jigsaw is being a crybaby, his face isn't even that bad.....
He had better hook up with his therapist, or I will be disappointed...
also, for a show called the Punisher, could Frank maybe get his a$$ in gear and start schwacking some bad guys? I' 5 episodes deep, and he's barely killed anyone...
I get they are playing a new angle, but this is getting silly...

No spoilers !! I'm only halfway thru the season.
To answer a question asked earlier about " Shane hate". NO, no one could hate Shane worse than Laurie, or Andrea, or Sasha !! To quote Samuel L. Jackson... "and I'm glad they're dead " !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Seriously, great series and like the show a lot ! It's one of the few shows I actually enjoy now. The other Punishers were jokes compared to this guy.

Yeah, that's another gripe I have. Frank ground Billy's face into a mirror repeatedly. Cut it all to shreds. But...he has just a couple big scars on each side of his face. I was expecting him to almost look like Harvey Dent from The Dark Knight, not like he fell of his BMX bike when he was 12.

Agreed; he just doesn't look that bad. I know plastic surgery and all that, but the guys face looked like hamburger after he rubbed him on that glass !

I mean yeah, Dominic West as Jigsaw in Punisher War Zone, looks like Leatherface had his face chewed on by dogs, whereas the Netflix version?
That is still the purdiest man I ever saw...

Well he kicked off well and they chose to receive on the first episode and the police station episode. I'd say the count is upwards of 20, maybe 30 total.

I'm on the fence with the guy's face. Looking like Leatherface isn't too "realistic." This show is leaning toward comic-rooted but believable. I'm not gonna believe some halloween store special with staples hanging out of his forehead.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I don't think they should go too out and out...but the man is still pretty. I mean, yeah, scars...chicks dig scars...but he had his grill repeatedly rubbed against broken glass and there are like 5 real cuts. I had more damage after my last Spartan race.

    I just figured it out!

The Pilgrim reminds me of Sean Penn except less political, way less of a douche, and more talented...

Yeah, Ray has more of the classic comic book look, but the movie kind of sucked around him...

I can honestly say the hype about Billy's looks in season one plays into his cray-cray in season 2.
Only up to episode 5, but I'll catch up...

The Punisher is the best Netflix Original yet. Season 2 shows a more humanized version of Frank Castle, yet still lets him be a total badass. He is so good at conveying rage without saying a word. I am starting the think Jon Bernthal will have the best post-TWD career. He was on the cast long enough to gain fame, but not so long that he is stereotyped by the role. Andrew Lincoln will forever be Rick Grimes no matter what role he is in.

I always forget how many movies he has actually been in. "Pilgrimage" is another good one. He has almost no lines, but still manages to kill it.

Damn good season 2. Just finished it tonight. I darn near felt bad for Billy. Hell, I was wishing Frank would team up with John Pilgrim at the end.
And what a last scene. Classic!!!

Start the clock for next season...

I just wonder if there will be a season 3. Disney now owns Marvel and they will be starting their own streaming service by the end of the year. It’s not clear yet which of the Marvel shows will continue on the new platform. I am hoping the punisher will make the cut.

There's going to be a season three. Has to be. It's the best of all the Marvel series yet. No way they cancel it. Where it lives in the future? Who knows...

The only potential downfall I can see is the show is far too gory for Disney’s standards. It’s like the weird uncle they don’t claim or something.

While I don't see there being a Cinderella/Frank Castle cross over (though, that would be pretty awesome on a geek level if they started weaving in real Disney princesses a la "Once Upon a Time") I think the money Punisher brings in and its relatively "controlled" marketing of Netflix will keep it around.
