The Retro Carbine shoots

Took the retro-carbine on her first range trip today.

Most of the shooting, forty rounds to be exact, was PPU M193, and ten rounds of Hornady Frontier .223 55 grain FMJ.

Her 1 in 12 twist barrel seems to like clustering three rounds into a cloverleaf, and put two rounds a quarter inch or so outside the cloverleaf with the PPU, with the Frontier I got a vertical string nearly dead on at 12 o'clock.

I would say at this point that I highly recommend the Brownells Retro AR uppers........

Yeah, I wanted to build one for iron sights divisions in some fun competitions (like 2gun). So I wanted that retro flavor, but also wanted free float barrel and adjustable gas so I could use low mass recoil system that I use on two other comp rifles. The front sight post is an JP adjustable gas block.
So this gun is more for fun and performance and is not a clone. Weighs 5.5 lbs and has zero recoil. Shoots flat as a ruler. Super super fun to shoot fast.

It's a 12.5" SBR, btw.
The upper was a blem I got for 109. I believe the color was off, but I really like the grey color.

I did replace the rear A1 dual aperature with a Blackhawk same pane rear sight, and front sight with a Blitzkreig red line front sight.
