Why not just use DA?
Just curious.
I have Evan Marshall’s book “Handgun Stopping Power- The definitive study” and consider it a must read. It’s a breakdown of most pistol calibers and the damage they do. It also tells a lot about the effects of drugs and adrenaline on people when shot. Anyone who hasn’t read this book really needs to.I expect All guns to work. So I'm not talking about a firearm malfunction. The single thing we have No control over is the ignition of our ammo. My fellow shooters say a simple Tap-Rack-Bang will solve the problem. I tell them my solution does away with Tap-Rack and goes straight to Bang..with just a trigger pull.
I had and have correspondence with Evan Marshall. He wrote two books on Stopping Power. I have a letter in the Gun Room from him written on Detroit PD stationary. It is from back in the 1900s...mid 80s I believe. He says in that letter.....If you never learn but One thing from me let it be this...if when you are leaving home, and in the farthest recess of your mind you think "I might need a gun before I come back"......take TWO. I have taken this great man killer's advice. People may scoff at you or say you are paranoid...my answer is always the same....we must all seek our own salvation.
I like Double Action revolvers....I carry as a primary a Sig 365. Right front pocket...left front pocket, usually some sort of a J Frame.
We must all seek our own salvation.
At least the first shot is more likely to be well placed. I hope anyway. At least it works out that way against paper targets.

I just retired a Ruger Security Six from bedside table duty after 30 years. Was taking a nap one afternoon and thought for sure somebody was in the house that was not invited. Cleared the house with the SS. Shoot 1911's so much, the Six felt alien in my hand. I've also got a SP101 with a Hogue grip that I take on overnight road trips for a bedside table gun. It fits my hand like an old glove. Its a keeper. The SS may have to go.

Since March 17 and the Lock Down, I have carried revolvers inside the Gates. I have never felt under gunned wearing one. I shoot DA guns DA and I shoot SA guns SA. I am alternating between a Colt 3 1/2 inch SAA and a Taurus Titanium 2 inch 45 Colt. Both do their job if I do mine. Neither is a Wizard killer in My hands. @303hunter!
Which revolver did you try on the wizard last time we were there? I’ve been working with the LCR and like it. Trigger is extremely good from the factory, but the sights not so much. I’m about to load some lead 158 grain for it, and I’m thinking of dropping the charge a bit to help get back on target faster. What are your thoughts on this @BatteryOaksBilly?Since March 17 and the Lock Down, I have carried revolvers inside the Gates. I have never felt under gunned wearing one. 642 loaded with 158 grain SWC's and riding in an old Wild Bill's pocket holster been known to be in my right front pocket more than often.
S&W 2 inch J Frame. 148 grain hollow base wad cutter with a 00 buck pellet in the hollow base at 750 fps. That is my usual carry load for these guns.Which revolver did you try on the wizard last time we were there?

Back in my younger days in the 90s carried very fine defensive combat revolvers. Even shoot ISPC in revolver class with them. All Smith 3" HB, RB K frames. M13 modified to DAO, M64 NY-1 (DAO), and a pair of 65's (one DAO and other DA/SA)
CD
Next time you're home come by and you can fondle a half dozen or so 3 inch RBs in K and J.Unfortunately no

The lasers I have seen here were not calibrated at all for Any distance.Had a strange event here today. A fellow was over shooting and one gun he pulled out was a 642 with a laser. He was hitting the steel from around 14 yards but I noticed the red dot was appearing nowhere near the hits. When he finished the cylinder, I asked whether he was using the laser and he said no. I asked why the laser was so far from “zero” and he said he believed S&W sets the laser for 25 yards.
Why would somebody want a 642 for 25 yards? Anybody?

That is to say out of the box so to speak. I'm sure you knew what I meant...but
Had a DEA Agent through here with Don Carroway as his "pass". He told of being issued a Sig of some sort with a laser. He was in 3 serious gunfights in extremely close quarters. Only through grace is he still alive. He told the harrowing tale and said after the 3rd encounter he removed the laser. He was, after many hours of training , Looking for that red dot on his target. He said in the middle of rattle battle he did much better not relying on the laser.I only have limited experience but I have never been able to use a laser on a handgun. Subguns, yes, but not handguns.

I have them on a couple of mine. Rarely do I even see the dot. But I got comfortable with the grip (mine are CT laser grips on Glocks) and so I’ve left them there.I only have limited experience but I have never been able to use a laser on a handgun. Subguns, yes, but not handguns.
I’ve got Viridian green laser/lights on two HD M&P pistols and my pump. I was out shooting the pistols the other day and, surprisingly, I could almost hit stuff.I have them on a couple of mine. What they’re really useful for is showing somebody how much impact a little wiggle at the muzzle has 10-15 yards out. Also shows somebody how not-steady their grip is even if they think they’re holding it still.

Which is what 99.7% of non-LEO civilians need a defense handgun for anyway, right? They are for arms length and at most the length of a car.
