The revolver in defense

This is my usual cc gun. 357 lcr Ruger with wood grips. Loaded with Hornady 38 special+p. Looked at J frames, this fit my hand better, and a really smooth trigger. Old pic, I only use 5 on the strips.

I was shocked at how much better the LCR trigger is in comparison to my old SW 442.

Crap. Now I'ma be looking for a .357 LCR.

When you get it start off by setting off a few Remington or Federal 125 JHPs. ...The birds will Stop singing!!!

Lol! Rem 125s run 1675-1700fps outta my 6.5" Blackhawk. The fireball from that in a snubby would be fun at night.

Was thinking about cutting some of my cheap (as compared to my new or 1x Starline) brass down to .38 Special length & trying some 180 or 200gr boolitz at .38 +P levels.

Why would you not just use the brass as it is in .357???

Had a strange event here today. A fellow was over shooting and one gun he pulled out was a 642 with a laser. He was hitting the steel from around 14 yards but I noticed the red dot was appearing nowhere near the hits. When he finished the cylinder, I asked whether he was using the laser and he said no. I asked why the laser was so far from “zero” and he said he believed S&W sets the laser for 25 yards.

Why would somebody want a 642 for 25 yards? Anybody?
I've rang a steel gong at 100 yards with a S&W 340PD

The grips are from I think grips4u.net or something to that extent. Didn't really like how much the gun seemed to move in the hogue tamer grips they come with, didn't see many alternatives I liked. I do like the look of the J frames more than this one or any other snubby this frame size. A Sp101 is nice, it was a thought, but like carrying a small tank around though, they didn't skimp on beef with those.

Seems like I'd have better case fill with the shorter brass, since I'm not looking to run 'em at Magnum pressures/velocity.

I would not worry about a lot of empty case space if you want to load to 38+p velocities. Use bulkier powder if you are worried about case volume. Find the velocity you want in a manual and load to that. I shoot loads from bunny burp to full power in 357 revolvers using 357 Magnum brass and very rarely shoot 38 Special ammo out of any of my 357 Magnum revolvers.
