There's No Such Thing As An Ugly Gun.....

But dang if Kel-Tec isn't trying hard. Also, if you buy a P17, you need a magazine loader. No range report till later this weekend.

Kel-Tecs don't look "ugly"...they look "cheap".

Glocks, now...they're the ugly chicks of the handgun world. They'll go bang every time because they HAVE to, being so ugly.

If I had the cash I'd buy that, it's beautiful. It needs a folding stock along the lines of the Carl Gustav m/45 for perfection though.
The picture I posted is like a glamor shot or one of those chicks on Instagram. That pistol looks not so good in person.
I saw it at a gunshow and at first I didn't want to pick it up because I didn't want people walking by and seeing it in my hands.

Glocks aren't ugly to me, just plain. No sex appeal at all.

That P50 looks like something a wolf ate and shat off a cliff.

Agree, the Keltec's are ugly, and my PMR30 feels like a toy gun someone bought at Target....but it works!

The only thing that's kept me from buying a PMR-30 since they first came out was the cheap looking appearance. I just can't get over it.

There's a LOT of appeal to a 30 round .22 WMR pistol, but...

I actually love the Kel Tec aesthetic. It hits that "80s cyberpunk gun" spot.

So! While I got on checking into a 2nd semi-auto pistol, it's only natural (for me) to be a 1911. But internet provides plenty of choices in upgrades of course. Such as longer barrels, ranging from Terminator, to being able to put a stock on it & still not be SBR.

For my first one, I'll just stick to small easy one.

I'll take the Black Rose on the bottom, just to push people's buttons when I pull it out!

EDIT:

Just looked on their site...only $800!

GI Joe 1911 Carbine Rifle, 16" barrel, in .45 ACP! Out of stock, though.

KEL-TEC P17 RANGE REPORT

I finally got to the range today, so here's my review.

PROS:
-Accurate
-Reliable. One FTE with out of spec round of Fed Champion and 1 failure to chamber a Mini-Mag out of 200 rounds
-Good Sights
-Threaded barrel
-$15-$20 16-round magazines
-$200
-Picatinny rail for da beamz
-Trigger is good

NEUTRAL:
-Paddle magazine release. Tried to push it in a couple times.
-Grip isn't bad, but still feels a little funky to me.
-Wish the rear sight was slightly wider
-Magazine doesn't have witness holes. It does have a fully loaded indicator tab on the bottom of the magazine in fairness.

CONS:
-Can spit unburnt powder due to the design. Not often, maybe 1/50 where I felt it. Did not shoot suppressed, so can't comment on that.
-Accuracy is not consistent. This is related to me and more of a 6 o'clock hold whereas I prefer a combat sight hold. I have to try to miss with a Ruger Mark X Standard series in comparison.
-As mentioned in the OP, buy a magazine loader. I got one of eBay which made magazine loading a breeze and I say it's required gear.
-Highest recoil impulse of any .22LR handgun I've shot. Combo of the lightweight design and the funky grip. Obviously not bad because lol .22LR, but I was kinda surprised.

Overall, a solid A- from K-T. Makes an excellent plinker and field gun. Would buy a Ruger Mark IV if I wanted a target pistol.

Also tested out the PSA Dagger after swapping to a OEM Glock trigger and 47021 Gen 5 ejector. Still needs the rear sight drifted and high-tech orange nail polish for the suppressor sights, but significantly better accuracy with the garbage hinged trigger gone and ejection is just perfect. Pic related is 60 rounds @ 15 yards.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. And that's why I had to have my cobray model DD sideXside 410/45LC Derringer. I've been told she's quite ugly. But you wouldn't say that standing in front of her. View attachment 686105here she is laying next to my naa 22 mag mini revolver for size comparison. View attachment 686106

Nice!

Is this an early gun? I thought they changed from Cobray to Leinad (Daniel ...as in Wayne Daniel) spelled backwards but maybe the new ones are back to Cobray again. I think Wayne's ex-'s son bought the name and is making these now.

Not sure of exact age. I've owned it for around 15 years. And bought it used. It's a fun little shooter. Not much of a pleasure to shoot with 45 colt loads but still fun. At the time I had never seen anything like it so I had to have it for my growing mouse gun collection.
