Since the movie was made in 1945 based on a novel written in 1942 I am confident that it has nothing to do with JFK. Kennedy was still training in 1942 and did not arrive at Tulagi until 1943.

It was based on the book of the same name published during WW2. Nothing to do with JFK. It is about PT boat action in 1942
