For the past 6 weeks I have been trying to buy a 204 Ruger (maybe steal one) I have never shot the cartigate there is something ingranded in me with it. Maybe the 4200 ft/sec trying to get out of me.

I wanted a limanated stock that I should have bought. Just notic ed Remington has one for around $554. It is a SPS Varmint barrel (26") and weights 8.5 pounds, X-mark adjustiable trigger and a varmint synthectic stock with vented fore arm. I have no expreence with the remingtons besides the 700 ADL and BDLs. Does anybody know anything about this gun?

The other rifles are a Howa, Ruger American and a TC.

Any sugeestion? Going out hunting steel and paper.

And what that video shows is a factory barrel against a "hand lapped" barrel.... And the point is??? Let's hand lap the Remington barrel and have a do over.... How dumb..

How do you hand lap a barrel? We have a precision rifle maker here in Savannah and I was going to ask him if I can watch them make a barrel. I understand how a CNC machine works but just can not grasp how they make the rifling in a barrel..

Back in college I did have and shoot a 700 ADL and BDL. Not sure what this one is.

I'd buy that CZ Varmint in the Classifieds. Then again I have a CZ problem. It will likely be perfect as is. Worst case is you may have to bed it to get it to 100%. IMO their set triggers are great for bench work. If you don't use the set feature they are just ok. But they are easily adjustable. But that CZ is walnut so if you want laminate there is additonal cost.

CZ barrels are known to be very good out of the box.

Tikka would be my secnd choice.

Hand lapping won’t thin out and correct the flattened lands in the rifling, just polish a turd. I still don’t feel dumb ;)
I think this vide0’s prior to Cerberus removing QA.
I’ve had nothing but shite experiences with Remington centerfire rifle ammo, two types of 22 ammo and two shotguns.
I wouldn’t piss on them if they were on fire.

I was under the impression we were talking about rifle barrels??? Obviously YOU don't care for Remington which is fine, buy someone else's crap.....

With such passion you must own Remmy stock even after they had to declare bankruptcy due to Cerberus’s ownership.
Yup, the conversation was @ Rem rifle. Cereberus is well known for liquidating the quality of companies they purchase, like Marlin became known as gRemlin.
I’m not known for buying crap.

No passion Dude, just stating facts....

The sps plastic stock is crap. It flexes easily and it touches the barrel in two locations near the forestock. I had a sps in .30-06 that had a wandering zero until I threw the stock in the garbage and got the rifle bedded in a laminate wood stock. The first upgrade I would want to do is toss it and get a real stock. Either laminated wood or a composite like aramid, not plastic. The x mark trigger had a big recall on it in the past also. I tossed mine and got a Timney. If you get a new stock and new trigger, you could have a decent rifle. Aftermarket support for the 700 is tremendous.

Buy a Ruger American and put a Boyd’s stock on it. Done. Probably close to what the Remington costs when complete. Best rifle for the money. IMO

Agreed. I also am a CZ fanboy, and proud of it..
If you get over the plastic stock though, Those Predators shoot! And under $400......come on now!

I had this in .223 and it was awesome

11B Cib, How is the trigger in the MVP? I have a couple Savage with the Accurate Trigger and love them.
