So I bought 1,000 because everyone has said good things. As long as I had them I decided to compare them to some Hornady 55gr FMJ-BT w/ cannelure which cost quite a bit more. To avoid creating stress I'll go ahead and say that I'm going to order more of the 2nds..
I weighed 101 of each on a GemPro 250. All 202 were weighed in a single setting, the scale was allowed to warm up for 30 min and was thereafter not moved or powered off.
The Hornady bullets fell in the range of 54.84g to 55.22g, a spread of .38g.
The 2nds fell in the range of 55.44 to 56.00g, a spread of .56g.
I found it interesting that the 2nds are uniformly heavier, and that the distribution of weights wasn't greater than 1%.
Here is what the distributions look like on a chart, the vertical axis is simply the qty at each weight.
Based on visual inspection I don't believe that these seconds are from Hornady, the bullet shape is different and the cannelure is different. I would be interested in comparing to the correct corresponding commercial bullets, if anyone has a guess as to what those are please send me a PM.
