Some guy near Lewisville put a car out for sale yesterday, hours later I happened to be driving by it and stopped.

01, 264k miles
Auto, 3.4L v6
Two wheel drive SR5 with the 'sport' package.

Looks really good condition - I saw it in person but briefly as it started to rain, then the guy sent me almost a dozen pictures inside and out.
Will need timing belt and water pump soon. And will need to put on a hitch.
Powersteering pump replaced recently, tires a year ago, battery 2-3 years ago.

Asking 5k.
Should I keep on moving or is this worth picking up?
I dont need it for a daily, but would like to use it weekly so we can haul stuff, or, at least, take it to hockey. Be nice to have something to haul a jet ski from time to time or to get longer pieces of lumber etc

We had a preacher bring his to us for awhile. His had over 600k on it if that helps.

My dad's 02 tacoma sr5 package and 3.4l has 300k on it and the only issue is a leaky valve cover.

If the '01 3.4L isn't any stronger than the '95 3.4L, you might find yourself disappointed when pulling anything behind it.

Otherwise, I'm sure it's a fine vehicle.

If it’s in good condition mechanically and physically, $5k is a solid deal. As for mileage, 300k is the minimum expected life, but they can go well over that if well cared for. I wouldn’t want a 2wd but if you don’t plan on going off road, it should suit you well.

Had an 03 Pathfinder with 4WD - I think I used it twice in five years.
Would it be nice JUST IN CASE? Yes. But do I really need it? No. I never went offroad, no desire to more than driving to the back of my yard.

I dont know, I'd have to look and see. Apparently it can pull 5k lbs, I'll never get close to that, dont plan on trying to haul my car or anything big

I'm sure it would be a good vehicle and is probably a decent price for what it is. Have you thought about looking around for a 1st gen Tundra? I regularly see them around that price range. I'd look for an extended cab V8. 4wd definitely seem to bring more money. You will have some room behind the seat to throw stuff but then also have a nice big bed for messy stuff.
