So I picked up some esstac kywi pouches for a 1.75 gcode belt that I also got recently. The pouches came with WTFix straps to attach the pouch to the belt. The straps seem to be good quality but when I get the pouches secured to the belt they seem to be “floppy”. I think the wtfix straps would work better if they were being used to attach the pouches to a wider belt or possibly a plate carrier.

Here’s the belt (2 layer set up) and pouches.

I have 2 single kywi pistol pouches and one double kywi pistol pouch. I plan to use one or the other. I’ll decide after doing some mag changes with each. I figure 2 pistol mags would be enough for my needs. I also have 1 single ar kywi pouch but I’m thinking I’ll get another and carry 2 ar mags on the belt.

Here’s a picture of the wtfix straps I have now (top)and the plastic belt loops (bottom) I think I want to try to help tighten everything down.

Before ordering I just wanted to ask if anyone had any experience with the belt loops? I hate to order something new just to try if it’s not going to tighten things up and make things better. Also, if there’s anything else I can try like a diy fix before ordering or if there’s a better product to order let me know. Any thoughts or opinions on any of this is greatly appreciate and I thank you in advance.

Figured I’d post just in case anyone else is in the market and wondering about the wtfix straps. I got the esstac kywi belt loops made of hard black plastic today and after changing them out with the wtfix straps I can say that the kywi mag pouches are a lot tighter fitting on the belt and suck up next to my body more. The problem I was having with the wtfix straps was that the mag pouches were sagging and the top of the mag would be tilted away from my body. Now the mags are all but parallel with my torso. I still need to get 2 more of the plastic kywi belt loops to use on one more ar mag pouch.

If I was to buy again to attach pouches to a belt I’d definitely get the belt loops over the wtfix straps.

I know I'm late to reply since you answered your own question. That's how some of it is when it comes to gear though man. You can't just go off of what random dudes on the Internet suggest and find what works or doesn't for you, which it looks like you did.

If I would've seen your post sooner I would've suggested not using the wtfix straps for belt mounted pouches for the exact concerns you had (being kinda floppy). Not bad at all for plate carrier or chest rig mounted pouches, not so good for belt mounted IMO. HSGI has belt mounted specific pouches that aren't bad if you're running a more "duty belt" style belt and not a MOLLE "battle belt" type. It's essentially some wide 2 sided velcro/one wrap used as the mounting solution. So you can really snug it down and aren't stuck with only the slot that is on wtfix straps or MALICE clips for it to slide into and engage.

Another solution I've been messing around with is using double sided velcro/one wrap, in place of MALICE clips, wtfix staps, or proprietary MOLLE mounting straps.

The belt loops you got look like a good option for belt mounting. Glad it worked out for you!
