Does anyone have experience using only a thread protector vs using something like a KAK slimline flash can?
I don't think I'm going to use a compensator or flash hider but haven't decided yet.
Thoughts?

F I R E B A L L S !!!

Will be the result, an AR pistol or SBR or even carbine in 5.56 spit some nice ones even with a flash hider ...

I'm ok with the fireball lol. I'm just wondering whether it's quieter with a flash can than it is with a thread protector.

In my experience the flash cans direct the sound forward and a simple crown with thread protector doesn’t

Honestly an A2 flash hider is probably cheaper than a standard thread protector

I've tried both thread protectors and many different flash cans back to back on my Galil Ace and AR15 pistols. I did not notice any reduction in muzzle blast and noise with the flash cans. All they did was add unnecessary length and weight.

When I built my 20” 22 Nosler, I used a linear muzzle device. Decided it was too long and switched to a thread protector. Didn’t notice any more noise than with the linear. Did the same with my 18” 6.8 with the same results.
