Thugs running buck wild in CLT

I don't think that would work. I think the only way this changes is for parents to raise their kids. As in 2 parents. There are plenty of good role models for young 'urban' people to follow. Not sure how it is ever going to happen nationwide, but instead of throwing money at this problem there needs to be leadership in those areas that young people will listen to. Who and how I haven't a clue, but the culture needs to change for things to get better.
the culture and cult of personality worships the thug life so that's ain't gonna happen until society wants it to, or a higher power intervenes... Whichever comes first

“Society” could change and fix a lot of things if it wanted to. Of course those pulling the strings and levers now would object and will get their agents to threaten violence. The threat may be real, but if the people have more or rather true resolve, they’ll win over the paid employees.

I'm not sure your analogy is apt.

Without anything kore to go on here, it seems like the person shot and killed was part of a group of people assaulting others in a car. Even if he wasn't the INTENDED target, he may still have been part of the violent group of attackers...making him a justifiable target.

Your son, walking across the street, would not be the same scenario.
In S.C. it used to be called,"the hand of one is the hand of all". It might still be. Used to hear this term a lot here.

All this sounds great, but with government incentivizing single motherhood, no amount of role models, leadership, lecturing, pleading, or reasoning is going to change things.

True, but it doesn't not seem like everybody or all groups milk those incentives so there must be other factors, and a way for groups to stay out of those cycles.

In most sates there is/was the felony murder rule. Here is a layman’s, understanding of it. If you are involved in a crime and someone dies do to the crime, everyone involved in committing the crime could be charged with murder. I.e. You and two partners are driving away from the scene of a crime you committed. L/E spots your vehicle and a chase start. L/E loses control of their car, hits and kills a pedestrian in crosswalk. All three actors in the getaway car could be charged with murder.

All groups are impacted by incentives (e.g., white single motherhood has been rising for decades), but I acknowledge this particular scourge does affect some groups more than others. Your post assumes that the difference is a method that any group can adopt with equal proficiency. What if the differences go deeper than that?

Then they gotta work a little harder or care a little more. Life is tough.

That's a pretty rough neighborhood. Not typical of CLT in general. It's like crossing a border into another country...

Amen....I swear I hate to leave the gates.
Me too brother me too. Like I had previously posted, there was a rolling gunfight type shooting 3 blocks from my work (at a financial hub for fortune 100 company...) last Monday.
I am seriously considering bringing my .300blk pistol as an after-work companion every day now.

One of our stations has a few bullet holes in it and there was a shooting and killing a block away a couple months back. I keep my Glock and a shorty AR close by always.

last summer I found a .40 projectile in the middle of our 50 acre parking lot. Figured it was from July 4th or Ramadan celebrations but it could've been from Hidden Valley a mile or so away

About a week ago one of my crews was working about 2 blocks from that drive-by location above. They found a handful of rusty steel 9mm cartridges in the street at the house we're surveying.
