That is the question...

Lol

So with all this happy fun stuff of working on a 6 creedmoor gas gun, I've found that I at heart am still a bolt gun fan. However, this will serve it's purpose once it has some better glass mounted.

1 o'clock sighter the rest were where I put them after dialing in the scope.

My old standby that's boringly accurate and does what she's supposed to every time.

260 Remington. Surgeon action and LA precision barrel in a manners T4 wearing a gen 1 razor. Still puts all 10 in groups like this.

I shouldn't have to say this but obviously work up your own loads and don't do anything I do. Duh!

6 creedmoor load
New Hornady 6 creedmoor brass
Berger 105gr. VLD match target
H4350 41.9gr
2900fps average with a SD of 7 chrono at about 15'

260 Remington load
Lapua 260 Rem brass
Berger 130gr. Hunting VLD
H4350 43.6gr
3000fps average with a SD of 9 for some reason. Lol

What's the barrel life on the 6 vs 6.5 CM?
Good question. I have no idea but would expect the 6 to be less for sure. How much less I couldn't tell you. I'm expecting to see around a couple thousand. Hopefully

I'm in the midst of building/assembling a 6.5CM myself. Slowly learning what it's gonna take. So far I've been frustrated by my (lack of) skill.

Savage Short Action
Savage heavy profile 24" barrel
MDT Hs3 chassis
PRS stock
Vortex Viper PST 6-24x50 (for now)

My best load so far is
41.2 Reloder 17
Hornady 14ogr ELD-M set .034 off the lands.
New or once fired Hornady brass
Consistently <5 SD and <10 ES at average 2760fps.

I've been kicking around the idea of building out a trued R700 with a RemAge barrel in 6.5, but wanting to go 18", drop it in a Magpul stock. Semi custom build, but something light enough to backpack hunt with, but accurate for long range shots.

I think you should find a way to like a gas gun more and trade that 260 to me straight up (minus glass of course) for my 6mm upper I have for sale. I'd even be up to throwing in the lower I have for it in on the deal. Then you't have an AR-15 and AR-10 in 6mm. Just a thought :D

I think that .260 is probably the nicest rifle I have ever shot.

Not including that Thunderbeast guy's .338.

You'd have to fight @NKD for it.

Fight club!

Although the 6 Creed has some great attributes I just feel the 6.5 Creed just edges it out in my book overall. I do like the wider selection of bullets and weights for the 6.5mm over the 6mm, BUT you are basically are entirely dependent on a good supply of H4350 whereas the 6 Creed I believe has a little more diversity for useable powders.

I shoot bergers but of course the more oddball weights. Lol

I've REALLY started liking the 130gr AR Hybrids from Berger in all my 6.5mm (Creed, .260Rem, & SAUM).

IMR4451 I feel is the only true contender on that list. It's a H4350 clone/duplicate made for Hodgon in Canada to alleviate the supply issues of importing H4350 from Australia. I need to pick up a few pounds of it, but am still well stocked in H4350 from 2012. :D
