Have you learned anything that you're surprised you didn't already know? Did you catch yourself doing something stupid that could have been bad under other circumstances? I'm open to any new info.

    I'll start with 2 examples:
On another forum a guy didn't realize how much crud his gun picked up from pocket carry. He saw a critter in his yard that could have been a problem for his dog and he took a shot at it... only to have his gun jam up and be unable to fire a 2nd shot. Could have been a problem if he was in a defensive situation.

    And for ME...
Today I learned that you have to clear your "cover garment" even if you're open carrying...
See, I had my shirt tucked behind my holster, leaving my gun clearly visible... but when I got home and went to take the whole rig down, I went to pull the gun out, and the rocker switch for the TLR4 snagged my shirt somehow. I had to grab my shirt, punch the gun down, then bring it back up. Sure it only took maybe a half second... but a half second can be a long time
I usually carry concealed and I'm pretty good at clearing my cover that way... but it never even occurred to me that I might have to do the same thing when OC.

Something I learned years ago. If I grab business to urinate like I hold a baseball bat I pee All over on my second hand and the last 2 fingers on the first hand.

On a serous note, it’s amazing how much lint gets into a gun while pocket carrying.

and then you learn that O2 sensors are rarely real issue. They are a easy sell and temporary fix. That’s what they always get replaced first.

That 'deer(deor)' was the Old English word for any wild animal, and that is why deer are also called 'hart(heorot)', and that is wasn't until later that 'deer' meant 'deer.'

I learned that a 15 year old microwave will break as your 13yo son just heated his pizza and the door would no longer open. Threw it out with the pizza still inside.

I also learned that the replacement we had been talking about that mounts over the range cost $405 after tax.....and was a real pain to put up.....and I have to wire in a plug tomorrow.....sum biatch.

It's time for me to go back to work so I can rest.

It's a direct injection turbo engine (back from when DI was relatively new) that I drive like I stole it. If my O2 sensor isn't caked in carbon then I'll be impressed. :p

Today I learned that those grippy flowers in the bottom of mimi’s bathtub aren’t quite as stupid as they thought they were when I was a kid.

    I understand completely.
The vinyl tubs/showers in this house have a little bit of checkering built right into them. It's not enough to give your feet any kind of grip, but it's just enough to NOT let those grip stickers hold on.

I learned that some class 3 FFL’s make you mail the F4 and CLEO notification yourself. Guess that ~$4 isn’t included in the transfer fee

    1. To appreciate the value of hiring professional movers. Damn, my back, legs and shoulders hurt!

    2. That, according to Mrs. Tim, “$3,000 is perfectly reasonable for a couch and end tables, thank you very much, now pay the lady.”

Preach it brother. For most of my life I was the family Mech, mover or day labor. I’ve paid my dues and now will gladly pay for anything I want done. I still cut my on grass but that because I enjoy it. Just like a couple months ago I paid a plumber to change 2 outside faucets under the house. 300 bucks for 30 minutes worth of work. Yeap I thought it was high but I didn’t have to F with no spiders.

I (re)learned two things this weekend:

Just because I can perform well in practice doesn't mean I can do well in a match and/or under stress.

I am mediocre at best and should be content with being that guy who "just enjoys getting out there".

    I learned-
Or relearned that Bradford pear while a somewhat dense wood, snaps and breaks off very quickly when cutting limbs.

Mrs Oneofsix says "that's the problem, you don't move as quickly as you used to"

    I'm a lucky SOB that so far I haven't injured myself-yet.

I'm a stubborn SOB because I'm going to keep going back at that tree until I get it done.

And doing the non DOT drug test at FASTmed is not fast at all.

That's ¿¥£€§@*!! up for used items!
The damned (literally) socialist polititions continue to bleed us dry. They recently doubled their tax windfall by taxing service labor instead of just the parts, the they retax it by taxing the income of service folks.
Terry Sanford *SPIT* applied the "temporary food and medicine tax" in the 60's for the chirrin'. It's succeeded in hurting the poorest of our state.

That I've never been so happy to be finished with a project....microwave installed, it better last until I die.

That sucker was heavy and the cabinet maker left almost no tolerance for putting it in....exactly fit the hole.

Went there week before last for a precautionary COVID test. "Pre-registered" online for 9:15. Right at noon before I was called in, and 130 when I left. Nothing fast about it.

Yesterday I learned rolling your ankle in your 40’s hurts worse than in your 20’s. Apparently it’s much easier to do also. Hit a very small crack in my driveway while walking and somehow my right foot just rolled over. Heard a couple small pops when I did it. I’m resting it today and hoping it’s minor but planning for a doctors visit early this week.

I learned getting frustrated and holding two pieces of Sheetmetal while you screw them together requires the fingers out of the way when it goes thru. Also learned going up a flight of stairs 60 times in 16 hours is a pain in the butt. I also learned federal regulations to do my job has made my life a living hell.
