I've seen that a few times in my lifetime. Preignition and Detonation can do wonders on pistons, wrist pins, cylinder walls, connecting rods, rod bushings, rod bearings, crankshaft journals, etc.........

Ive been there, and I know it sucks, but its also a bit neat to see how things get destroyed when something goes wrong (have parts left from when my dragbike popped the motor)

View attachment 27831 View attachment 27830 Looks like a couple of our fuel pistons from Zmax! Those AJ heads?
Running lean is a bitch ain’t it?

Brad Anderson FAT heads...

The whole fuel system was not lean, a nozzle was partially plugged causing #7 to run lean under load.

Nice pics!! lol

Which fuel team do you work for? I spent 24 years working on Top Fuel dragsters and Nitro Funny Cars.

Yeah we had fuel lines going to back of heads getting kinked. Hung 5,6,7 and 8. It was nasty. We try and run Gilbertson’s car a few times a year.
