Anyone have a recommendation for a Toyota truck mechanic in Raleigh? I have an 06 Tundra that is making an odd sound when it starts. I can take it to the dealership, but know I will overpay there.

I don't know of one, but I'm intrigued... I have an 07 Nissan Titan that's making an odd sound when it starts (for a split second; goes away after that). What's your sound like?

In terms of mechanics, though, I've been reasonably happy with Bull Tire. It's in Cary (I know you asked for Raleigh), but they've always treated me honestly. They're probably not the cheapest out there, but I trust them.

My sound is like a louder version of a compressor or pump running. It stays on until I drive about 50 yards and quits. Doesn't come back on until the truck is cranked with a cold engine again.

Different from mine, then... Mine is like a sudden "woof" (almost a rumble), that goes away almost instantly. If I started the truck right after shutting it down, it doesn't happen again. If I let the truck sit for a while, it'll recur.

Anyway, didn't mean to hijack the thread. Good luck!

Phil's Toy Store. Chatham Street. Cary. All they do is Toyota. Have done great work for me and at a price the dealerships couldn't touch.

Nevermind. Didn't read whole thread.

Oh, and have you checked your Kanoodler valve?

Sometimes they stop Kanoodling.
