Anyone know why they don't host any matches? Is the owner not aware of practical shooting or how popular it is in this area?

I searched on practiscore.com and found one completed "action pistol" match, so I guess they have had at least one.

I heard the GSSF match was dissapointing at best.

Seems like an evening pistol match, entry fee includes dinner at the restaurant, would draw some folks.

Just curious about it.

Yup. I have a range card there. Went to meet a forum member for lunch and then go exercise a new pistol to see where the bullets go. In the meantime while waiting on my lunch to cook in the cafe, I walked over to the range shop to buy a $3 bottle of gun oil. Then walked up to the register and they had to have either my range ID or my name to set up a profile to complete the transaction.

Uh, no.

I won't be back.

I call BS.
I did not see anything in that place that cost $3.
100 Fed. SPP was $4.00!!

The only time I've ever been there was to buy the parts for an upper I was building. I sought out the manager, told him what was going on, and told him how he could keep my business, but he really didn't seem to care one way or the other. I left ~$900 of stuff laying on the counter simply because they would not budge from the idea of collecting all my info.

So...I drove over to Carolina Gun Runners and bought everything I needed with absolutely no drama whatsoever. In-n-out in 20 minutes or so.

That was the day Hurricane Matthew hit last October. I actually walked out of two local shops that day due to poor/lacking customer service. Haven't been back to either one since.

I for one can understand why they do it that way. How do they know you ain't a terrorist making bombs out of AR parts? Maybe you are lucky they even let you in the door. It's an exclusive place, and they likely don't need your kind.

If you ain't got nothing to hide you should be totally okay with a full FBI back ground check for the Grock/sucker match and a full anal investigation for your froglube/crisco purchase.

Heh.

I've defended Bill a lot but lately ... I just can't. The ROs are hit or miss ... one was all over a couple cute girls a month or so back trying to impress them. They did not ask for nor need help but he was right in there. If they know you or at least see you there every so often they are for the most part okay but some ... well it is a public range and I understand but they do a couple things I saw I'd walk out. Sorry, but it is a business choice they made to serve the broad general public more than more serious shooter so I'll head else where now. Big business ... and big expense means they need to draw bigger crowds and they need different operating procedures and "things happening" that aren't for me anymore. I'll go to the Wake Co FETC in Holly Springs if I need indoor time and deal with their ROs and such now otherwise it's up to Frontline and Paul.

They do keep a tight leash on everyone, which is good, because there are plenty of new shooters in there. It's probably more for the 90% of the public that is a new/casual shooter, vs. the more serious shooters on here. It's not all olive drab and tactical, and they don't want to be. You want to be an operator? Go to Range 37, just up the road from Ft. Bragg/Pope AFB. You want to take your girlfriend shooting, or you are thinking that things are getting scary, maybe it's time to get your first gun? TSA. There's a place for both.

I was a member there for the first year, had a really good time, no problems with RSO's or anybody else. Facility is great. I let my membership expire, partly because it's just 25 yards right now, you can't pull from IWB, and I have a kid starting college and a wife that wants to quit working. But I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone who fits the profile they are going after.

If you were they would not be liable any more than any other place that doesn't require that sort of stuff. It's the same with their policy of not letting you carry in - why do they need to do it and other ranges don't?

Been there, done that. My momma told me if I couldn't say anything nice, to just shut up.

So I'm just gonna shut up.

Browning, John Browning. Bond, James Bond.

Perhaps the owner used to work at Radio Shack?
