I am soon going to be in the market for a new truck. My 2004 Yukon with 222,500 miles has some problems that might be fairly expensive to fix. I think a pickup would suit my needs. What brand do you suggest? I have been a GM person for years but have had several people tell me to run like a scalded dog from them. Ford seems to be doing some weird stuff with trucks these days. Toyota is a possibility. Most of my friends have gone to Dodge Ram pickups and seem to be very satisfied. It would be used around the farm and for pulling boats 22 ft or shorter. Any suggestions are appreciated.

I have driven everything known to man, with the possible exception of a Yugo.

My favorite vehicle, bar none has been my 2017 F150 4x4 XLT. 5.0 Coyote. 20mpg
More comfortable than the full sized Caddy DTS sedan I bought new in 2006.
72,000 miles in three years and no troubles yet. Still on the factory installed tires, too.

Assuming gas?

In my opinion the only thing dodge has going for it is the Cummins Diesel engine. I’ve got friends with a wide range of years of them that praise the motor and cuss the rest of the truck. Fords 6.7 diesels do really well (our fleet has 12). Not much experience with newer Duramax but that’s the best ride of them all. Ford actually has more power when you look at new models.

In gas I am a die hard Toyota fan. The power and comfort of a Tundra is difficult to surpass. I drive a crew cab tundra every day. Mileage sucks though. If a Tacoma would suit your needs I wouldn’t hesitate to purchase one. A Toyota will retain its value better as well.

I wish you luck and happiness on your vehicle hunt!

Nothing last longer than Toyota. Ford is king of trucks and the solid for farm and toy pulling. My Ford has been on the same parts for 248,000 miles.

I have a Dodge with friends with them as well. Never going to happen again. There is a reason Ford is the #1 truck in America.

IM an Import guy but work at a big Dodge dealership in the service dept and have for the past 6 years. I have to tell you we sell a lot of Dodge rams and If you compare the amount of other Dodge /Chrysler and Fiat products we sell and what pulls into the service lane for warranty repairs I would have to say that Dodge trucks are probably the most reliable vehicles we sell. I hear many of our Truck buyers talk crap about prior Ford and Chev trucks they had in the past but I dont pay too much attention to them since they are usually there complaining about every little squeek and rattle they heard last week and want it fixed. If you planning on keeping what ever new product you buy past the warranty, purchase the extended warranty. Repair can and will be very very expensive and will probably include electronic components. The Ram 1500 with the hemi will probably suit you well but look into the towing capacity and while you are looking ? Check into the V-6 engine they offer. Its got good power plus better gas mileage then the Hemi. I have a V-6 1500 in my rental fleet that construction guys have used to pull some pretty big darn trailers, meaning way over listed capacity and they haven killed it yet ..

I have a 2020 Silverado with 5.3/8 speed and love it. I heard a lot of bad things about that transmission and glad I didn't listen. 11k tow capacity is more than I will ever need, rides great, and much more peppy than then the 2010 Sierra it replaced.

I love my ‘16 Toyota Sequoia and had a 2005 before it. It is very thirsty but does what I need it to well. I plan to keep it forever. I’ve read several articles where it’s the 2nd most likely vehicle to see 200k miles, right behind its sibling the Landcruiser at #1.
My work truck is a ‘19 Ram 1500 hemi with about 14k on it so far. Our company has a small fleet of them and they have been fairly reliable up to when they get rotated out, usually not much over 100k. They have plenty of power and get decent mileage, but they do seem to eat tires. One common complaint is the turning radius. It’s like a school bus trying to park it. I wouldn’t buy one, but it’s free to me and not too bad.

Recently purchased a 2018 f150 5.0 4x4.
10 speed.

My first Ford. I regret it already.
It's obvious the R&D dept or the engineers are smoking something. I would go Chevy or GM.

@RS is driving another new F-150. We have always been Ford oriented. Yesterday on the way home from supper I told her that if I was in the market for a New truck Monday morning I'd buy a new..................................................................................................................... Ram.
