Truck/Trunk Gun pic thread

No. The aero precision star bolts suck ass. So many get stripped. I have 4 AP enhanced uppers and have replaced all of them with Allen head bolts.
Good to know as I Just ordered an AP enhanced upper. Thanks

I will echo this 1000% over. I haven't gotten the chance to hit the hardware store and find replacements, but he is absolutely right. Why they used such soft, brittle metal is beyond me, especially when they are such an important part of the function of the entire gun!

And I believe they include a medium thread locker with the rail, so imagine cranking down on them when you want to take it off and having to break the thread locker. EFFFFFFFFF

on top of bad metal, I don't think they use a T sized pattern that exists. I have every number under the sun, 6,7,8,9,10,12,15,18,20,25,27,30,35,40 and none of them fit. the closest one jiggles which is a big part of the stripping problem.

I think it is a T15, but my set is Gearwrench (Taiwan made, which are the nicer ones) and I have to JAM it in there. It def locks up tight but almost makes you wonder. Doesn't help the T hole is so shallow either.

Looks cool, but says MSRP is $2,700, which means street price around $2,300. Sorry, but something just as awesome could be built for just over half the cost. I think it's cool, especially being thin and having a 5.5" barrel, but Sig has continued to let people down between the MCX (price, performance, proprietary mags, etc), P320 (Drop test, anyone?), and other items between the margins. I'll wait for CZ to drop a Scorpion variant in .300 BO!

Interesting. I did not know this. I have 2 of these rails now.

I did notice the looseness of the wrench in the torque head screws but have not thought anything else about it.

Yeah, I've got a Sig M11-a1 that just will not eject and you never know when ! One of the Highway Patrols up north sued Sig over this same problem with their carry guns! Mines been to 3 different gunsmiths, back to Sig, had the chamber polished, the ejector replaced, twice, and been cleaned more times than I can think. I've basically got an $1100 brick! I've always liked Sig, and have quite a few, but, between this and the 3 mosquitos that I've had over the years, I'm done with them!

The instructions for all three of my Seekins rails said use a T20, all the screws were T25.
I hate a stripped fastener or tool.

Found this on ARFCOM and thought it belongs here. This is not mine, but it's growing on ne.

"Things a thief is looking to steal from a vehicle for 100 Alex."

What is power tools?
You're right, it does fit in the back of a contractors truck better than a pelican with nothing else. It's not the best, but it's better than just shoving a gun under a seat.

Agreed, mine is a plain pelican. Might just clearly label it "promotional brochures" or something ridiculous.

Not trying to step on toes here buddy. IMO and some experience as a general contractor.

Someone casing a vehicle will break into one more readily if they see money, tools, electronics, etc. Literally anything they can make a quick buck from.

Hide a firearm under the seat or wherever out of sight or in a nondescript box that "could be" seen. It's less likely to be a target compared to a visible powertool box. Even a partially exposed powertool box regardless of what's actually in it is a quick flip incentive for some waste of oxygen.

Imagine some useless piece of society wanders up to a vehicle. See's a random box, bag, what have you. Versus walking up to a vehicle looking in and seeing a powertool box. Those usually come with some tool or another known to fetch a quick buck at the pawn shop.

Waste of oxygen who needs $20 NOW, busts window grabs box, walks away. Opens it to find firearm instead of contractors tool... YATZEE!!!! They did score.

I'm just saying it seems silly to hide a firearm in a different products box that is also happily snagged by the scum of the earth

So far, my favorite idea for hiding it as opposed to locking it away has been the folding chair bag. If I were after a quick hit of cash a tennis racket, guitar, or tools can all be pawned. But a cheap folding lawn chair? The more jacked up the bag the better. Cant see a reason why anyone would want to break in a car and risk it just for something they cant sell.

No, I totally agree.

I like the idea that it's like a pelican case, but it needs to be in a different case that doesn't look like anything of value.

I don't like a gun just shoved under the seat, which is the best thing about this.

It's not mine, but it is original, but there are better ideas.
