Wow, got an email today that my membership is up in Feb. If I renew I luckily will not have to pay the upfront initiation fee :) but oh yea, the monthly rate went up to $55 a month from 38. I am glad so many shooters are coming into the sport that they can afford to hike the rate up over 43%.... but its time to say goodbye to them thats just unacceptable to me.

$660 per year?

OUCH!!!!!

Wow that is a large increase. I'm out in June 2018. We may have to take up golf or beach volleyball.

Based on an email I just received, it appears that they now need to fund their second facility over in Greensboro.

They're going to open here in the Triad? That's exciting news.

Another local range I won't be patronizing. :D

I second that. I also heard calibers is raising there rates too. Used to be a member but now go to Triple Target range in Sofia. A heck of a lot cheaper and never a wait. Where you shoot Jeppo?

I think I have 3 more years of being locked in to the early bird rate. After that I guess I won’t renew.

I had the early bird rate locked in on a family membership as well. They told me they wouldn’t honor that rate when I went to renew. I told them bye.

Something about this smells fishy to me. Gun and manufacturers are almost giving away their products to juice sales. And yet, ranges have (or believe they will have) enough business to increase prices like this??????

Those of you who have been going to ranges for a long time, are you seeing big growth in the number of shooters there?

The yearly rate is still $595...

That wasn’t thevyearly rate I had paid prior as I was on one of the first membership buy ins.. they ran 3 different buy ins with different prices. I even still had the paperwork from the time of the purchase. The people working the counter were very passé about not wanting to answer my questions on why the price went up. So I was passé with my money and gave it to @Frontline Defense.

The ironic thing is that I live next door to TSA. I’ve always believed in having a membership somewhere just to support the sport and the people that want to further it. I still stop into TSA and pay the hourly rate when I need to test fire one of my new guns.
Funny thing is, I’ve only ever been to Frontline twice since I’ve had my membership but they’ll get my money again next year as they have continued to make investments in their facilities and it’s a perfect place for all of my shooting needs when I can dedicate the time to make a day of it.

I'm under two miles from TSA, I try to visit at least once a week, sometimes twice. Website shows $595 individual fee, $99 initiation.
When I joined it was about $200 up front and $38 a month.

I recall they were looking into adding an underground rifle range at TSA.

As for the new location, they are seeking investors. I don't think the initial investors would like profits from Raleigh funding another location until they have received a return on their investment.

I'm also a Frontline Defense individual member, visit twice a month.

Say what now!?? That was the whole point of giving them money when there was no range built yet!

That’s what I thought too. But they kept trying to justify their position on the increase so I left. When it comes to getting my money, there are no mistakes. Only consequences.

The G-boro thing is suppose to be off I-40 and Wendover beside the Lowes. That area is fairly heavy shopping and light business with a mix of residential ... not cheap real estate ...infact I don’t remember any vacant land near the Lowes so maybe an existing building? Anyway, it ain’t gonna be cheap but the traffic in that area should give them decent numbers to pull customers from just like Brier Creek.

As to Button Pusher’s rifle range at Brier Creek ... last time I spoke with Bill (it’s been a while too ...) that was phase II and he said he hoped to start “next year”. His ideas was underground lanes somehow which struck me as expensive to do with current setup. I have been there maybe twice this year and both times they were busy in the range area but the sales counter was s l o w ... I know a couple people who love it but I just don’t like indoor ranges, public ranges, stand and shoot paper ranges type thing. The nonmember cost for a range visit isn’t bad for what the facility offers but I won’t go enough to justify the yearly fee and the store prices are to high. Bill’s business plan I’m sure is geared more to a newer shooter who has more disposable income than I and if he makes the numbers great. However not honoring the 3 year discount membership thing for preregistration is going to not be so good.

While talking with a couple coworkers who are members, they told me they signed up for some classes. When they told me over a $100+ for about a 4 hour course I was a little surprised and then a couple classes were canceled because they didn’t have enough people to sign up. One woman told me that she and her friend (also female) went to shoot and one of the ROs was always looking over their shoulder which kinda put them off.

Honestly, I like Bill and some of the staff but my last time I went with friends was just ... MEH ... and aside from a great burger at the cafe I really did not enjoy. I was hoping the 100yard rifle range would materialize soon so I could do some load developing indoors over the winter but maybe G-boro will eat that capital and it be pushed back? Anyway enough griping from me but I hope Bill will read this soon and address the discount memberships for you guys but I do know he has heard many times about his store pricing and that doesn’t seem to have changed. If it were me whoever is on the marketing side needs to get out on the floor, range AND CAFE and talk with people ... you can tell who is a more serious shooter fairly to see what they need from the range side, a newer shooter what classes they’d like or need, etc. Their marketing to me is basically “we built a state of the art facility so come shoot” which might work for newer and more causal shooter visiting the range but that demographic can shift easy. I think the more established shooter is better long term and I myself don’t feel that they are looking at people like me and most here.

Last time I was there, I was approached by someone who was focused on customer satisfaction/concerns so I think that is getting better.

A customer asked about the rifle range, man in TSA black shirt told him most customers shoot 30 minutes, rifle range will be expensive and there was no plans at the time to do it.
Should have built the room for it and add equipment later.

I don't understand how they can not honor their price lock-in to early members. Hope they clear this up, could end up in court.

Should anyone not be charged the correct fee, please call me at 919-802-2040 ext 101. If this should ever happen, it was a mistake and I will make it right. We value all our members.

Burying the 100 yd lanes proved too expensive, so we will be extending our 25 yd warehouse, which had been the original intent, out to 100 yds.

We have more to announce soon.... thanks!

Bill
