Twins find veteran’s wallet...

Two years ago I found a wallet/clutch in the bestbuy parking lot on the way out in the road run over. It had a phone in it and cash, cards, SS card, etc everything to steal her ID. I didn't trust the personnel at best buy so I called the Greenville, NC PD and they said I could bring it in or try on my own to find the owner (out of town address near I-95). The phone was ringing but I couldn't answer it due to being crushed. I took it to the PD as I didn't trust the owner to not say I stole it if I met up with her. When I got to the PD desk I told them I found a wallet. The one woman laughed hard right in my face. I must have looked pissed as she turned around and shut up. The other guy smugingly said "well what do you want us to do with it" I told him "you are the police if it's not safe here the who else. With all the rampant ID theft why do you question this?" He said he would "hold on to it and put it in evidence if no one claimed it." The guy took everything but my SS number down and said "we'll see" I didn't expect them to go all CSI on it, but her DL and other items was there and I'm sure they can find out her phone number etc from their databases. On the way back I stopped into bestbuy and left a note with the security guard that the wallet was at the PD. The girl called to thank me 2 hours later.
