if you don't have one by now, you're missing out big time. UDS (Ugly drum smokers) are one of the cheapest and most efficient methods of moist perfect meat. Ill be building rantingredneck one very soon. Post some pics, ask questions. Make smartass comments. ;)

What the hell???

I got a drum stashed at someones house and now you're building that fool one?

We're no longer friends and our next basement meeting has been cancelled

dude, propane???

I know. I bought one for my son n law for Christmas and figured I'd better season it up for him. I still have my little bullet weber. I need to build a UDS soon. The weber is ok but nothing special. How much do you charge to build one? Usually if I have any spare time it is spent shooting or reloading.

depends on how involved it gets. I've built a few pretty nice ones with weber lids and double racks. I don't have much time these days to mess with them either. Once someone says they want one it may take me a month or two to get around to finishing it, depending on barrel availability

still working on mine...cant get the heat up over 200... i added another bottom vent& ball valve... then this cold snap hit

I'm looking forward to that. I still have not purchased the parts list you sent me though :).

I did pull off a pretty darn good smoked deer tenderloin on my Stok grill last weekend. It was like meat candy. I'll post up the recipe in another thread. I brined it first. Amazing!

If the addition of another bottom intake doesn't get you there, step back and take a good look at how much exhaust area you have on the lid. Very well could be too little. You could drill some .75" holes around the top and cover them when the heat jumps up or not in use with the 1" magnets from Lowes. I had the same problem with the first one that I built and the extra exhaust fixed it muuse riki tik.

I do a standing rib every year for Christmas dinner. I think this year I'm going to cook it in the smoker instead. I haven't had the UDS fired up for a couple of months.
